My Ford dealer charges $500 for a car or truck. They want like 1600 to do the whole thing inside and out.
as for prop change, wait till you try the boat.
Actually, that seems about right. There's a lot of labor involved.Hi there. New here and curious if anyone has experience replacing the upholstery on their SPX.
I have a 2016 SPX 19 OB and unfortunately the previous owner did not care for the vinyl properly. It is stained and cracking with seams coming undone.
It only has the basic upholstery package from the factory. I got an estimate at a marine upholstery shop in Columbus, OH to reupholster the entire boat though they quoted me $5,000 which seems steep.
Would love to hear from others that have had similar experience.
Thanks
Thanks for your reply. I’m going to also try to get a quote from a Sea Ray dealer for ordering all new parts as a comparison.Actually, that seems about right. There's a lot of labor involved.
"Usually" the vinyl (Sea Ray refers to them as "skins") are only available for a few years so chances are, at 6 years old, they may no longer be available. But it doesn't hurt to ask. I believe it will be more expensive to buy the skins, though - and you still have to do the labor or removal/disassembly/reinstall.Thanks for your reply. I’d like to to see it.Update: I found another upholstery shop near Buckeye Lake who quoted me ~$2,500 to reupholster the entire boat. Service is scheduled for the first week of December. If anyone is interested I can share some before/after photos.
That's a steal. Just double check that you're getting a good quality job. But if so, sign that check before they change their mind.Update: I found another upholstery shop near Buckeye Lake who quoted me ~$2,500 to reupholster the entire boat. I’ve always had 2 battery set up on all my boats. 19SPX included. Piece of mind. Never had an issue with the batteries after sitting a couple months unused. I’d look into adding it if you haven’t done so already.
