Official 19SPX/21SPX/SPX190/SPX210 Thread

the radio install paper work that came with boat shows the current with radio off at <200mA. That's just crazy, and for SeaRay to use the radio just doesn't make sense. No wonder it can drain the battery. And it talks about the slower turn on time if a direct feed isn't used, I saw that, it takes about 45 seconds. I think it i booting like tablet.

Hey guys, picked up a 190 ob in the fall and only got on the water once before it was time to put it away. It has the 150 Merc, and came with the stock 19p Black Max aluminum prop. I'd like to get a stainless and I know I'll have to test some, but does anyone have any experience with the Rev 4 or Mirage Plus, they seem like they are commonly recommended on other forums for the 150. We'll mostly be at lower cruising speeds so a lower plane speed would be great. No water sports yet, and won't be for at least a few years till the little one gets older.

Congrats on the new boat. It is a great boat that does a lot of things really well. I use mine mostly for water sports so I wanted hole shot and better maneuverability around the docks so I went with a 17p four blade mercury Enertia prop. They don’t make that model anymore but they have an equivalent 4 blade prop now. I am happy with the 4 blade prop and 17p is perfect for a loaded boat getting out of the hole pulling a skier or tuber. I had the Rev 4 prop on a 26’ Overnighter with a bravo 1 drive and it was a great prop but I think it is a heavy prop intended for higher horsepower applications but I may be wrong on that as it has been a few years since I researched it.

I upgraded ours to a 3 blade SS Enertia. I did that based on recommendations on another forum. I also added a Doelfin the next time out, to judge each change separately.

The hole shot is better than outstanding, with absolutely zero bow rise. 3 seconds to plane. 7 seconds to 30 mph. Running at 30 mph, if you pound the throttle it literally pushes you back in the seat. I gained 3 mph top speed. Prop slip at WOT dropped to 8%. Mid range fuel economy dropped about 10%. The rpm needed to stay on plane was noticeably reduced, but I didn't collect the data.

These stats are based on 2 people aboard and a full tank of gas. I also carry a kicker so that's an extra weight. With 4 people aboard I don't detect any difference. I bought the 19P based on the test results with the OEM aluminum. It all worked out better than anticipated. If I had plans for watersports I might have considered an 18P.

You gained or lost fuel economy in the mid range. I'm assuming you meant you got 10% better?

Yes, my poor choice of words.

The fuel USAGE dropped, and thus the economy was better.

By mistake i found myself idling back to the dock with the fuel gauge needle slightly above E, and the engine started stuttering last 100ft. it's about 600ft idle zone to the dock, Was on plane before that. At the pump I put 26 gallons in, squeezed handle many times to top it off. Doesn't seem right I can't use the last 4 gallons. Anyone been able push it further?

DON'T top off. You're run the risk of destroying the EPA-mandated, carbon canister emissions system on the boat by saturating it with fuel.

Cars are always level - small boats almost never are :) The angle of the boat vs the location of the fuel pickup is the variable.

hi, i have 2018 190 SPX with the merc 150. two things:

trailer not towing well / low tongue weight - i moved the axle 3" back and it made a world of difference! at the time i was towing with a JKU (yeah yeah, i know) and the sway at 60mph just stopped. could cruise at just below 70 with zero issue. now using a new explorer so all spot on. but that 3" really made the difference.....lol. tongue weight went up but not a huge change (i can still just grab hold and lift it.... just).
the reason i lift it is because the drainage in the corners etc is crap, so i put a block under the wheel to tip it while washing down.

prop:
i have the 14.5 / 19p. get 47 mph. she has a heavy ass and dropped of plane pretty early so put on a Sting ray SR PRO 3 hydrofoil. MUCH better!!! but now i hot 6000rpm way too early. it also take a while for the revs to build (that was same before the fin). comments on here about lower than 19p.....? i was going to go to a 21p with vents, maybe the Turning Point Express 3....?
loaded or just me, i still hit the 6000rpm early, and that's confirmed, same on gauge and the vessel view mobile.

anyone running 21p? thoughts? im thinking the 21 will sort my rpm out and give me a few more mph, the vents will help the revs build initially so i can the torque to jump up on plane.........

thanks in advance!!

I had the same trailer problem, but simply hated to move the axle, brake lines and all (I know, I know). I put a surplus US Army 50 caliber (empty) water tight ammo container on the tongue and filled it with 110# of lead wheel weights. Problem solved, easy peasy.

I'm running a 19" Enertia prop and hitting just shy of 5800 rpm and 50 mph. The mose awesome prop I ever had. The engine is 3 holes up.

Oh yeah, and a DoelFin. IMHO, its a better design and with the motor raised it skims the water at plane.

No need to move lines etc, jacked it up, slacked the bolts, knocked it along and tightened it off. Too longer to get the weight off the wheels than to adjust it. Easy.

So your on 19p....... hmm. Need to find a decent 19 i can try before buying i think.....
As for height, will check after but on this pic it looks one from top.

I have a 2016 and I had to move my axle back as well. The trailer was all over the place on the highway at anything over 55. Unfortunately my shackle mounts were welded so I had to cut them off and add a movable shackle mount. Pulls great now.

I simply don't like to stress the connecting hoses. They only stretch so far. Just my aversion.

Your engine is in the second hole. Mine is in the third (middle position). That's how it came from the factory.

Ok thanks. Not sure how i'll do it yet but might try raising 1 hole and see what i get then. Id imagine reduced drag, a little. Thx.

To others reading who have spx 190 ob & 150hp:
Which hole on motor mount?
What prop are you running?
MPH and RPM @ WOT?

Thanks!!

Hey All,

I am working on turning my '18 SPX 190 OB into the All Sport Package. I have added a Minn Kota Trolling Motor and Lowrance Depth Finder/GPS. I am working on adding the bow deck pieces to create the fishing platform. I also want to add the bow seat in the front.

Question: Does anyone have the All Sport Package that would be willing to send a pick (or description) of how the seat mount in bolted to the front? It is mounted to the vertical portion of the front step. I am assuming there is some kind of backing behind the fiberglass as the fiberglass alone probably isn't enough to support the seat. would probably need to gain access through the port or starboard storage access.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Anyone know who the manufacturer of the Vinyls are for the SPX's boat cushions? Parts manual says the following:

Part #2193501 Vinyl, Alloy/WHT FLAT

Hey All,

First of all, WELCOME!

Man, I’ve tried all manner of searches and am coming up flat (even tried terms including “mounting kit” with fingers crossed something’d turn up :-/ so,

if you don’t get a photo here it occurred to I would be bold enough to reach out to a dealer that has one for sale and ask if someone there’d take mercy on ya, snap a couple of photos and send them to you

(I thought I found one at a Marine Max in Houston but, that was an old video and danged if I can see where they show the pedestal seat:
) …

Sure sounds like a cool project and I’d like to see how that seat post is mounted, as well.

PS - I know this is a wild shot but, please let me know (PM me) in any event should or if you decide to sell any of the forward seating or anything that you removed to install that forward decking.

And, of course, Best o’ Success!

I found this pic on online, but that is as far as I have got...

For the pedestal seat... keep it easy. Make your filler board strong enough to support a flush mount post base. You can pick those kits up just about anywhere.
