Official (1990-1993) 270/290 DA thread

Good Luck this season! Spent the weekend before Memorial Day out on the Chesapeake Bay, went about 60 mi round trip to Chestertown and back. Great trip, boat ran perfect, everything worked. Ready to go again.

just talk to the wife, Ben Nutt what his name, retired in 1971 as groundskeeper In the mid seventy some time, he was taking his pilots licence, but never finished the training. He died about 6 years ago at 100 years old. It seems like he live in a ranch house right off or on campus (Wife show me the house everytime we go by it) till he and his wife move into a house just 5 miles south of Berrien springs with Aunt Bonnie and Gordon Polite
I heard the name mentioned a time or two. Don't believe I ever met him though. Used to ride out to Warren dunes on the weekends and watch the hill climbing with those crazy hopped up jeeps and dune buggies, Quite a site to watch. Actually tried a hang kite there one time, did'nt get far before crashing, but still really cool to try.

Waxed and in the water ready for another boating season! What a great boat for the $$$, Mike.

Have to agree with that. We are on our 10th season with ours. We really wondered why we waited several years to re-do the upholstry and a dozen other things. We have had the boat to Canada and the Thousand Islands on three occassions for month long trips and we have always been comfortable on it. Of course, I wonder how many wives would put up with a month long trip on a 30' boat. I would bet that the field is pretty narrow. Use this year has been minimal because of the weather, but, lately we have been getting in a lot of use.

Hey Jerry, Glad to hear you are getting some sea time in. We took a 3 day trip weekend before Memorial Day up the Chester river. Had a great time. By the way, really enjoyed reading the History of Sea Ray, They opened for business the year I was born. How is the RV, any trips yet?

Upgrades coming for the 270! Just ordered a new Refridge for $850 from Great Lakes Skipper with free shipping. It will fit perfect with no cutting! http://www.ebay.com/itm/14098537443...X:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_4234wt_1016
It will be nice to have a working refrig vs. an ice box make do.

I also got an awesome deal on a Raymarine 10" R80 4K Pathfinder Radar system from a owner that upgraded to color. I do need to find a yoke for the display and trying to figure out what Dome mount will look nice on my sport arch. The 24" dome is 16lbs and the arch can handle the weight but should I put a short 5" elevated mount/platform under it? Should the mount slant back like the arch or forward to balance the weight? These mounts are not cheap either! The Dome/Radar should be here today so I'll have to to some drawlings and mockup to see how it looks and what forward angle I need and so on. The price was right and it looks nice so it's more of a toy/want right now. We do boat after dark quite a bit so I'm hoping I can use it, like our GPS, to make the night safer, Mike.

Sounds Great CV23! We need a refrig also, but I don't want to spend the $ right now, too busy pumping it into the fuel tank LOL. Good luck with your new radar set up. Let us know how it works. I don't have an arch on my 270, so I'm not sure how I could install radar. There are times on the bay where it is nice to have. Maybe I will start looking for a used arch some where.

It is a real bear trying to run wiring in the arch. Arrrrgggg! Ran wiring up starboard side for light and had to cut a hole in the center of the underside of the arch to be able to mount the fixture. Put an Sirius/XM antenna up along with a TV antenna. Had to run the radio antenna wire down the port side of the arch. Good luck with the radar set up.

Radar came yesterday and it has the big 4KW cable! It will need pulled from the dash up through the arch. This may take some planning and research. The dome is not real heavy but I may want to buy a 2-4" four degree mount for it.....just more $$$. I'll bench test it this weekend since we won't be boating due to high water. Pulled the boat last night....water coming up 13ft, Mike.

One of the plastic hinges on my rear fold away seat has broken. Do any of you know how to find a replacement? The only markings that I see on the piece are "Schema LTD." and "BP 1013106" I have tried to research those numbers without any success. Below is a picture - sorry, best I could do:

Looks like I found what I needed. I just happened to hit it in the McMaster-Carr Catalog at page 2998. It is a folding table leg brace, part number 1173A21. http://www.mcmaster.com/?orderview=new#catalog/119/2964/=n8gn01

Hi Jerry, Looks like that may be a better quality piece than the one Sea Ray used originally. I don't use my fold down seat as I put a large cooler there and use that for seating. We put the rookies there as you must serve drinks from the cooler and get a good workout standing and sittng all day. Seems to me I saw that excersise on one of the Admirals excersise video's LOL. Good Luck with the repairs.

The problem with that particular replacement is that it has a locking feature. You have to physically press the release tab to disengage it so that you can then fold the leg up. If I had to put two of those on a leg, I would have to have three hands to close the leg. If anyone knows of a link to one that has just the pressure lock, I would appreciate it.

Ya, the toilet get used more than I want it to, that's for sure!!

Did you get your shift problem corrected FT?

No boat has bravo 1 always shifts into forward but not always in reverse. It doesn't grind just doesn't do anything put back in forward then back to reverse and goes right in smooth as could be.

Does anyone know how to put a.c and genset in a 270sundancer.also were about to get these new or used?
