Went to get fuel yesterday and found that I lost my vent cover (the fiberglass one for the head that comes out the side midship) searching on FP marine it looks like they have a similar one to mine. my bigger problem is there are 4 screws sticking out the side where the cover once was, not sure if i can get at them ?? Dont really use that vent too much and can probably live without it if I have to .. My question is has anyone ever had to replace this? If I can get the screws back to be even with the side of the hull I was thinking if putting 5200 on to adhere it in position. ANy thoughts would be great as well as more info on where to find replacement if the one at FP isn't correct. thanks Wakeup/rob

The boy did the taping.

I finally completed the new amp and arch speaker install, now I get to listen to music that I cant stand really loudly. For those of you who are silly enough to try this, you need a spacer as the arch is not deep enough to mount polk DB651's. The spacer can be obtained from Polk @410-358-3600 p/n RD1652-1. I didnt like the grills on the polk speakers and noticed that they offer a marine speaker cover. Its not on there web site but saw it on Best Buys web?? I ordered 4 direct from Polk p/n AA11651A.

I was wondering if anyone had a remote level indicator/sensor on their waste tank? I had 6 high school girls on the boat and within 24 hours filled the tank and it over flowed out of the toilet into the cabin. Ugh.... Funny you can put 10 guys and 20 cases of beer on the boat and never have the same issue?

Put muffs on out drive pushed firmly on them water faucet on high did not see a drip From that hose nice and dry:huh:
Found problem slightly blown head gasket on port side still going on vacation just going to take it easy and see how it goes only need to use it for one more week vacation end of month so now I have a winter project. Thanks for all your help were I tried all sugestions.

My old tank had an indicator in the head, but, tank started leaking. I took the whole mess out and put in new system (18 gal) with a remote indicator that I put in the cabin on the side of the seat where the AC unit is located.

If any of you have been watching my blog, I wanted say something about my trip up to Clayton that I don't want the wife to see.:smt001
Part of the haul was thru the Poconosnin Pa. When I got up near Wilkes -Barre, I stopped for gas and checked the tires/wheels. When I did, I noticed oil on the right rear wheel. Looking on the backside of the tire, it was covered with brake fluid. If any of you have been in that area, you know that it is all up and down Talk about adding some pucker to the ride.
I managed to nurse the rig up and down some pretty steep stuff until I found a large shopping center and someone that could direct me to an auto parts store.
I had found that a brake bleeder valve adapter (ie: the part that the bleeder valve screws into had split open and That $6 repair could have been very wild.

That was a cheep easy fix.

I'll be watching your blog JerryS, Mike.

My daughter asked if boating is really for us. On the last day on the water this weekend we managed to drown the jet ski and while watching my kids trying to rescue it I managed to idle into a submerged rock. The boat ground to a halt, and without thinking I increased the throttle to get it off the rock. That was dumb. It didn't move, I raised the drive and my daughter pushed while the current moved us backward off the rock. Very stressful. When we got the boat on the trailer I saw no damage to the hull but the lower part of the drive had a couple big gouges in the aluminum.

Finaly filled the boat up after the Suttons Bay to Leland and around north and south Manituo Island. 140 mile's on the gps and looks like 90 gallons of fuel. The boat was heavy, 3 adults 2 kids, Carry on Airconditioner, Dinghy with 4 hps motor, An genny with gas strapped to the back this the dinghy and motor(never used) all our supplies for four days. Water was good for the most part, Suttons Bay to Leland a 38 mile run about 31mph about 3600 rpms, most of the rest of the trip was about 29 to 30mph, So I kep her moving pretty good clip but also kep her trimmed down to keep everything from bouncing around in the cabin. First day out to the South Island there was 3 footers or so. Most part about 1 foot wave's. 1.55 mile's to the gallon. I've done 1.75 before, I believe. I know my Power play 230 conquest 454 chevy got to 2.5 mpg crossing the lake Michigan, getting close to half the weight.

Now off to the Straits of Mackanic today.

I just installed a new battery charger/converter in my 270. My original one stopped working months ago. We just added shore power this year to our docks and it's great to have. The 454 has kept the battery's up but now I have a smart charger. I bought a ProMariner ProTech 1230i 3X30A for $160 off ebay brand new and unopened. http://www.ebay.com/itm/36038846834...X:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_1757wt_1145 Some still available and it works great! I only have two batteries right now but the charger allows you to bridge two outputs so I sent that one to my deep cycle house battery. When I fired it up, it went into Absortion Mode at 25%. It also has Balance Battery Control so no overcharging takes place. I can also use it for any battery type I purchase in the future. I don't think I draw 30amps on my 12volt system while on shore power....the big users are on 110V. It does have a built in fan and thermal protection. Can't figure out why Sea Ray mounted it above the hot water heater but that's where it goes! Hope it lasts 21 years, Mike.

Weight & Tire/Wheel Temps:

On the way back from our trip, I had the rig weighed at a truck stop. The total weight was 16,400#.
Front wheels: 3120#
Rear wheels: 4420#
Trailer axles: 8860#

My truck (2000 F250-V10) weighs 6000# and the trailer (2004 Loadmaster) weighs 1180#. That gives me a weight of 9220# for the boat. (How does SR come up with 5800#?) I had empty fresh water and black water tanks. Fuel was at 1/4 tank. Boat was loaded with clothes, some food and other travel junk.

Has anyone else had their rigs weighed? If so, what kind of numbers did you get?

I kept a log of tire/wheel temps. Tires were normally about 120-130 degrees and the wheels were 110-120 degrees.

BTW: I was really happy with the performance of the EOH brake system. Once that you set the boost to the load, the trailer brakes work in harmony with the tow vehicle brakes. Worth every dime!

CV23, how difficult was it to remove the old charger and install this one? mine is on its last leg. Also, if yu have any before and after pictures of where you mounted it that would be appreciated

Thanks
