Official 1980's Weekender/Sundancer 300 thread

I'm just looking for feedback on what brand and size/pitch is working best on the Sterndrive boats.

to find the right prop for you needs there are two companies to call. Michigan Wheel and Black Dog Props. Both were more than great in helping me. Give them a shout

my marina hauled me out real quick to install my new 50w drain plug light last night.

looks good with the 4 10w white led's on the transom.

Nice result...have seen complaints that the drain plug lights were too dim...how did you wire power supply?

Your marina must be nicer when it comes to charging for pulling out. My marina charges about $250 to pull mine.

they hauled me out for free ! he must have wanted to see the light.

the drain plug light is actually so bright it hurts to look at, and was lighting up the trees behind my boat. I wired it to a car style key fob and I turn it on and off remotely.

Gar came by for a midnight snack

That light is awesome - and so is the ability to be lifted out for nothing! Looking good.

Here are a couple of recent pics from me getting settled in a slip and it also shows a glimpse at the carpet, teak, canvas, etc. work that has been going on.

14 ½ x R19 black diamond aluminum I find to be best on my 89 300 outdrives. I tried different props, different cup with same diameter and pitch but the performance was terrible. The prop felt like it grabbed the water aggressively starting out but cruise performance suffered. If you want good hole shot, make sure the drive is trimmed almost all the way down and use trim tabs down, rpms briskly to 3000. Mine gets on plane pretty quick to where I have to act quickly to back off the throttle and bring the tabs up.

New PlasTeak deck. I think it looks awesome.

Looks nice! Do you glue that material to the old non skid? Was it difficult to install? I'm thinking about doing something similar on my DA. How bad was the cost? Did you do it yourself of have it installed? Sorry for the questions, but I want to get my info straight before I spend.

Anyone have a source for the impeller used on the ac pump. Last year a piece of the magnet broke off and jambed it. Took the piece out and the pump worked last summer. Looks like any other piece broke off. The pump is a Cruisair PMP500.

Thanks Ken

somewhere down the line somebody replaced mine with a different and more powerful pump.

My boat has had two Cal Marine pumps, both went bad. I switched over to a March pump and it has worked great for several seasons. I used the red one, supposed to flow more water.

I have been using the14.5X19 Black Diamonds as well with pretty good results other than hole shot when loaded heavy. It is manageable with tabs but I was hoping that a four blade would help to not have to use tabs every time.

Ken, did you go with the turning point props on your boat?

Used the prop finder then bought new a merc props. Having a best friend that owns a marina and gives you cost on everything is kind of good.

Ken

I'm about 50 hours in already. Very happy with what's been accomplish recently. Canvas, teak, depth sounder, chart plotter, AIS, GPS, compass, carpet, rebedding stanchion rails, etc. I'm taking a little break from projects and just trying to use her!

On my second half tank fill ups, ordering the new eS9 from BOE tonight. I might get to go to Charles City in two or three weeks. Work is sucking my boat time away
