Official 1980's Weekender/Sundancer 300 thread

They finished with my new camper enclosure today. Only have a few crummy pics and the eisenglass still has the protective wrap on it, but you can get the idea...

Looks very nice! Dare I ask, how much?

I already had the Bimini done, that was replaced this past summer. The camper enclosure was $2,900.00 with no frame work. I had all of that already.

It would look so much better if that L Lounger was on my boat  I've got the day off today so I will get so pics of mine. Shouldn't you be packing?

Ok I've got some time to shoot some shots. For you local folks, Signature Canvas out of Hampton did all this.
All new glass curtains up front, all new zippers, and canvas/Velcro to cover the zippers. New snaps to match up with the hardtop so the windows can be folded outward and snapped into the hardtop.

Going Saturday to start cleaning it out and make a list of projects to be completed before splashing!!!

A very loud bass thumping sound system!!

The first item is replacing the headliner. I will be posting pics from start to finish.

Windlass does not work so I will need to look at that before splashing.

Remember...it could be that 3.5 cent fuse. Good luck, keep us posted

Good point! However I live in CT and that fuse could cost .12 cents! lol

Hey Tritone,

I'm looking at your photobucket and noticed on the 3rd pic that you have some sort of door on the starboard gunnel just fore of the speaker. What is that? Mine is just fiberglass there. I'm only asking because I need to replace a fuel tank sender and my mechanic says we need to cut an access hole there. What is behind that?

Thanks,

Lee

Hi Lee,
That is an access door for the purpose you need. I always thought that was a standard access panel on all models, so I am surprised to learn you don't have them. My neighbor has an '89 like yours so I just might see if I can see what he's got. The senders are behind there, although I can only see them with one eye because, well, that's how most important boat equipment is tucked away. There are the two hoses for the engine intake and also for the bilge blower exhaust. There is also access to the fuel vent and waste tank vent.

I actually did away with those doors that Sea Ray put on. They were made of some kind of laminated material. I designed new ones out of Starboard and I put some equipment on them. I'll try and take some pics.

Justin,

That would be great when you get a chance. I'm in no hurry, (have one working gauge!) But when I get ready, I don't want the sawzal to take out a wiring loom or a fuel line!

Thanks,

Lee

I had a bad sender last season so I redid both with good equipment. I had the pleasant surprise to find out I had twice as much gas in my starboard tank as I thought. I guess it just added up because, without a working gauge, I would always put a little extra on that side. Solved the mystery of the list, too!

Got a cabin door key. Found one in a box of old keys under the desk in the brokerage office! Now I have to make copies.

Also found a disconnected wire on the windless, that works now...

Oh warm weather where are you????

Look you even saved the .12

Hey man, I looked at my neighbor's '89 and there are no access panels on his either. It's hard to imagine why they didn't put them in because having access there is not an every day thing, but it is important when you need it. I bet you could cut some doors there, though.

I pulled up my windshield yesterday along with the kind help of my brother in law. The project is to paint the dash. Since the cockpit interior is getting redone, along with literally dozens of upgrades for the 2013 season, I just couldn't live with that chalky, faded green dash anymore. I've selected an Interlux paint in Hatteras White. Tomorrow I will spend the day prepping. There is tons of caulk and foam tape to get off. Then there is the sanding and taping off.

To get the dash off, first you have to remove the plastic cover that hides the screws that hold the frame to the deck. One popped off without effort but the other one was baked in and brittle. Oh well, what's another $60 for that part?! Since I needed to called Taylor Made for that, I decided to get some window flock for the side windows and the deck tape that goes between the frame and the deck along with it. As some may know, on top of paying their high prices, they also charge a $25 fee just to place an order. That doesn't include shipping either. Oh well again. Anyway, I am attaching the part numbers in case anyone needs or for reference. The nice representative researched it and found me the original diagrams.
