Now that I got the boat down here in sunny Florida, got a few projects done today in prep for tomorrow's splash. Replaced the old, nasty blue boot stripes with black/tan to match the new canvas...

Winter is getting long in the tooth but the lake is still frozen solid here. Fishermen are driving vehicles on the lake and I saw a snowmobile track and about 20 snowmobiles racing. This gives me hope that there is still time to finish up. Tritone is in a thousand pieces still from the winter retrofit. I planned a few upgrades but it quickly ballooned into two pages worth of fixes. I am looking forward to finishing and unveiling the new Tritone for 2013. So far I have:

rebedded the bowrail, cleats, and navigation lights. Added backing plate to cleat, quadrupled washer size on bow rail backs
removed the pulpit, refinished, and epoxy potted the holes to stop water intrusion
removed swim platform and epoxy potted the holes for the hardware
installed a water accumulator, dockside water, cockpit wash down, and hot/cold transom shower
made a new transom door and side access panels out of starboard
installed new blowers
removed the cockpit upholstery (it's almost finished getting redone)
rebedded a deck hatch
installed a central vacuuming system
removed and refinished teak
installed an 8' FM antenna for good reception
rebedded the cowl vents to correct a defect from the factory
fixed a loose section of rubrail
installed a new faucet and soap dispenser in head
remounted the aft bilge pump to the lowest part of bilge (now it sucks water to below the limber holes of stringers)
Installed a recessed electrical outlet in galley
Installed a double USB charging outlet, 2 DC outlets, RCA, HDMI in berth area
Installed DC outlet, RCA, HDMI in cockpit
New DC TV with transportable mount for cabin and cockpit
Had a strut bearing replaced
Got a better table for dinette (thanks Shaun!)
Added shelves to the starboard-side hanging locker, plus 110v oultet and 12v outlet
LED lighting down below around perimeter, dimmer switches
LED lighting in cockpit (in process)
paint dash (in process)

And the list is not done. I am hoping to splash in 3 weeks! I still have to paint the bottom and compound the hull. Yikes! I'll post a completion album when I am done. Here are a few pics of Tritone in all apart:

Does the front wondshield just slide up after removeing the screws across the fromt or are there screws at the top corner in the wing track?i so why not remove the windshield completely,other than its probably a two man job?Glen
 
I see that you raised the windshield to do the dash. What was involved in doing that? I want to rebed my windshield but I don't want to totally remove it. It looks like you removed the screws and just slid it up in the 'track' formed by the two wing windows. How hard was this to do? Any pitfalls? I will probablly have to do mine in the water this summer as the yard that hauled me for the storm last fall and is storeing the boat won't let me do projects there. What attaches it to the sides or does it just slide together?

You have an ambitious list and have done a great deal of work, and it shows. Looks GREAT!

I've done a number of the same things to my boat over the years. A new transom door is on my short list for this summer too.

BTW what did you use to rebed the windshield? Did you get a gasket from Taylor or just use butyl tape and caulk?
 
I have not rebeded the windshield yet as I've only put one coat of primer on. There is still another coat of primer and three coats of Hatteras Off White with flattening agent. When I do get to that point I will use the mounting foam-tape I ordered from the factory, along with some butyl tape and sealant caulk.

I decided I would leave the side panel up and pull the forward portion. With that kind of access, it was no problem taping off the sides cleanly. I realized when I was pulling up the windshield that halfway up was all I needed. It was more convenient to leave it there than trying to find a place to store that unwieldy object. I also avoided having to cut all the wires.

It comes up pretty easily. All you do is pull off the screw covers. One of mine broke because it was became brittle over the years. So I ordered another one. It only comes in 12' sections, so I guess I'll have new ones on both sides now. Take out the screws and run a putty knife under the seal to break it loose. The corners lock on a track with each other. If I wanted to take it all off, I would just continue sliding it up. It's a very simple, straightforward process.

I was joking to my brother in law who helped me that I wished I could leave it like that. Then I could stand at the helm without the frame right at eye level. He said, "Sure! Just have the canvas man snap you a panel across the bottom!"

Thanks Tritone. One more question, are the screws wood screws or do you have to find nuts inside? Also, do you have the part numbers for the foam tape and butyl tape you ordered from Taylor? Thanks
 
They are just stainless wood screws. The foam tape is a few posts above (see the diagrams). I get my butyl from this guy's site: http://www.pbase.com/mainecruising/rebedding_hardware&page=1

I've used a lot of his "how to" pages and he is thorough and complete. I used his method for rebedding my bow rail and the epoxy method for the hardware on my swim platform. He sent out the tape really fast, too.
 
Shaun, are you concerned about the dinghy when coming off plane? It hangs out much further then others with the larger platforms. Curious to hear how it works for you...

I was. And while I was out exploring the intercostal the other day I jumped on and off plane a few times. Coming off plane water does push under the port tube a little. However, after watching it while heather ran the controls it's nothing I'm concerned about. It wasn't enough push to cause damage and it wasn't high enough to enter the dinghy over the tube so I believe it should be fine.

One thing I do know, though is that this is the absolute biggest dinghy to fit on this platform and not cause problems with spray and docking.
