New Clarion M303 receiver, Any way to keep old multi-CD Changer?

Man Jeff, that's ALL I usually listen to, up until a couple of months ago. I'M HOOKED ON THE NEW COUNTRY MUSIC :smt089

I still flip back and forth on xm radio. We have had the chance to meet plenty SJ artists in the past, got pictures with Jonathan Butler, hung out with Will Downing, have a personal connection with Kem, etc. My all time favorite SJ artist is the super group, FOURPLAY. We saw them a couple of years ago at the Jazzfest down here. That was their first time here in New Orleans and I have some video footage of that performance, MAN they are awesome.

I listen to XM watercolors a lot. I have some FOURPLAY on the ipod. I enjoy most types of music.

Just finished the new install with the changer removed. I am very happy. Thanks to all who replied and helped guide me in the correct direction.

Good deal. Is that an aftermarkey panel or one that you made?

I made it out of 1/2 inch finished Oak. Was easier than I thought. I used the old panel as a template and ran a flush router around it to size it perfectly. I used a light coat of Cherry stain on it to match the bar I made as well.

I filled the spot of my old 6-disc changer with a Gen1 Apple TV ( has built in hard drive) - Ran HDMI to all the new TV's and an outside TV. Plugged into the AUX RCA's of the m303 and now I have music and video's all controllable from my iphone or a remote.

Sounds very nice. Is your TV close to your head unit or did you have to run long hdmi cables?

We have three TV's at the moment - In the 400DA the stereo/AppleTV is in the main cabin all the way toward the bow on the starboard side. One TV is in the main stateroom (20" LED), this is a 10ft HDMI cable, One TV is on the bulkhead right next to the stereo (32" LED), this is a 10FT HDMI and the last TV is outside behind the captains chair ( 27" LED), this is a 30FT HDMI. I installed a two source HDMI switcher in the cabinet next to the stereo so we can show the Apple TV or a DVD separately to any one of the three TV's. This works well when we want to watch music videos outside and the kids want to watch a movie in the stateroom. The whole system worked out pretty well.

Wow...sounds very nice. Do you boat at LOTO? We are at Table Rock.

We are actually on Smithville lake just north of Kansas City. Were the biggest boat on the lake but it close to home so we get to use her almost every weekend and a couple times during the week.

Along the lines of replacing the original Clarion head unit with the M303, anybody know:
1. It is my understanding that the M303 requires the new wired remote. Does the original connecting cable still usable or do I need to spend the $30 or so for the new one?
2. Is the wireless remote (which is cheaper than the wired) line of sight? If so it would seem not very useful in the cockpit

Yup, you need a new wired remote. I had to cut a larger hole for it too as its bigger in diameter. I am not sure about the wireless remote, but I am guessing its not line-of-sight or it woul dbe not much good. Are you changing out your speakers too? If so let me know as that is my next upgrade.

Could you use the old cable that connected the old head unit and remote with the M303 and the new MW1 remote, or did it require a new connecting cable as well?

All new cable, the connectors are not the same as the old connectors.

You will need a new cable for the wired remote. The wireless remote works very well in the cockpit, on the dock, or floating in the water. The wireless remote does not have a screen, so it is not as functional as the wired remote....but is great to skipping a song or adjusting the volume.

Wow...I didn't know there were any boats that big on Smithville lake. The convenience has to be great!
