:smt100 I have sinned :smt021 I sold our Sea Ray:smt089 And then I sinned again:smt021, I bought a Campion:smt021 I now beg you not to cast me out before you hear me out.

Health issues have recently made it very difficult for me to care for and operate the 240. I'm very lucky to live in an era where modern surgical techniques will not only save my life, but also enable me to enjoy the rest of my life with only slightly restricted mobility and a minimum of drug therapy.

For a few years now we have been wanting a smaller hardtop /pilothouse type vessel that will be easier to look after and will be suitable for occasional cruises to the rainy north coast. I was really hoping to find an older Sea Ray hardtop express cruiser, in restorable condition, that I could subcontract the restoration a step at a time. There aren't any around here. In fact, there are very few pilothouse/hardtop type vessels in our size and price range anywhere. We finally decided to settle on C-Dory, Sea Sport, or Osprey brands, although they are a bit pricey for used boats. Then we stumbled upon the Campion 622 Sport Utility boat. Small, simple, easy to tend anchor, piece of cake to wash, virtually nothing to winterize except a fresh water tank, and, no canvas and isinglass to be taking down and putting back up as the squalls come and go. We JUST wrapped up the deals on both boats. The 240 goes to a couple who will enjoy and look after it as well as we did. And this new to us little cuddy is coming from a young growing family who is sad to see it go but has outgrown it.

I've learned a lot from all you folks here at CSR and I've spent many hours of recovery time occupying my mind with all the info and camaraderie here. This site is as much a part of my morning routine as my cup of tea and the Admiral's coffee in bed. I do hope to be allowed to continue contributing my sarcasm as well as taking in everything else the site as to offer. I see that there are some Formulas, and Cobalts, and others who have been granted leniency. I have one more major surgery to make it through and then I can get back onto a boat and take in all the spectacular scenery that the Pacific Northwest has to offer and awesome people that the boating lifestyle blesses us with.

And if you don't let me stay, I'm going to delete all my previous postings, and then I'm going to design and market a universal bolt on jig that can adapt a Honda EU2000 to any swim platform on any kind of a boat.

Cheers,

Chris

and please be on the look out for Zonie and Sylvia, absolutely awesome folks who just bought an immaculate 240DA and are probably lurking here somewhere. Man, do I ever babble on once I get started, eh?

sorry to hear about the health issues Chris....at least it sounds like you have them somewhat under control....best of luck with that and i hope the recovery is speedy...

i can relate to needing to change boating life style as we age....we really enjoyed our 215EC but the trailering was just getting too difficult as i got older...i told the Admiral we were going to have to make a change or get out of boating.....last year we left the boat in the water all year and we saw how much easier this allowed us to access and enjoy the boat so we knew we wanted a boat to leave in the water full time which led us to the 340....right now the 'cruiser' life style is fitting our needs well but i am sure that will change somewhere down the road as we continue to age...i hope the new boat will allow you to continue boating...

i always enjoy reading your post for the humor and info so please do continue to be active on CSR...

best of luck my friend....

A mans gotta do, what a mans gotta do!

Congratulations on both transactions... as long as you and your mate are happy, that's all that counts.

No reason to leave here... Happy boating!

Best of luck with the health issues, hope all goes as well as planned, getting old sucks!!!

We had a couple Campions at our marina 1 I/o, 1 outboard not sure of the models both were used mostly for fishing & crabbing. I had spoke to the owner of the outboard think it was 200 Honda he loved it, said he'd had it out in the Straights of Juan De Fuca all the way to Neah Bay halibut fishing handled the seas well just needed to stay close to shore in rougher weather. He had also downsized from a 3088 Bayliner FB and loved not having all the maintenance & cost to own.

Should be a great boat for home & towing over to the San Juans & Vancouver.

Best of Luck
Bob

LOL
Oh No!! Who will we get to champion the cause of the safety of portable generators?? Maybe you could put a Sea Ray Logo on your new Campion 622?? Or at least on the EU2000 in the cockpit? Seriously, sorry to hear about the health issues! Getting old is not for sissy's. Still, it beats the alternative. I say enjoy your new boat, and keep checking in on us here.

Hey man good luck with the health issues, and I'm sure you'll enjoy every moment with the Campion.

Congrats on the new boat. Stay with us, you are a "Boater" I think that qualifies you to be here. Wishing you well with the health side of things. It will get better.

Without pics of said new boat it didn't happen. :)

I know, I know. The only pics I have is from the ad and 1 from the survey. The boat is about 1400kms (870 s. miles, 756 n. miles) from here, up in Prince Rupert. Here's the link to the ad; http://skeena.craigslist.ca/boa/4916401192.html and here's a copy of the survey if anyone's interested; oops, that sure doesn't work. I'll update pics and signature as soon as we get it. That'll be great incentive to make a quick recovery, won't it.

I hope things go well with your health issues.
I will keep an eye out for the campion on the water. Its a nice boat and should work well for your needs. If you see a sundeck stalking you, it might be me trying to get a closer look.

Sorry to hear about your health issues Chris. Wishing you all the best with the new boat!
As far as I'm concerned you are always welcome on CSR!
Calm seas my friend!

No reason to leave here... Happy boating!

My exact thoughts too - enjoy!

You have to stay Chris, I need at least one person that will talk to me!

Boat looks good, that's the one you posted up a couple of weeks back for thoughts on isn't it?

And good luck with the last surgery,......this being a little incapacitated at what I believe should be a great time of life, just sucks!

Chris
I'm sorry to hear about your health issues but you're right when you comment about how lucky we are to have the great medical services we enjoy.

I've sent you a PM about something you may be interested in for your new boat. I hope you can consider it.

Geeze Chris...I hope the med issues get sorted out. Please stay on the board, it will be great therapy as you get better.

I hope to see you at KYC one of these days!

Mark
