just got back from the hurricane prep class. most of the stuff was basic but a couple of tid bits like the duck tape around the cockpit cover sounds like a good Idea.

Yea the duct tape was a good idea. Everything else seemed like common sense.
Only thing I need to figure out is where I keep the boat if that's a flood zone and which one and if it would better to leave it or tow it home where it would have to sit in the street. might be able to get it in the driveway but then no room for the truck..
Also was nice to meet you tphinney sorry I didn't tell you by, I was up in the Service Manager's face who said they would call me tomorrow about my boat.
tphinney and I snuck outside and found my boat although dirty on the outside it looked complete.
Morpheus said:Ok looks like where I live is not an evacuation area but where the boat is (http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=28.031211,-82.647223&spn=0.001338,0.002881&t=h&z=19&om=1) is in evacuation zone A
So sounds like I should go get the boat in the event of a hurricane that could put a storm surge up the bay. It's exactly 5 miles from my house.

on the whole hoa thing i would bring the trailer home and tell them to sue me. I hate HOA's, been there done that, it's unamerican. our HOA bylaws expired sometime in the mid 70's and no one in the community where I live wants any thing to do with HOA's.
in you case I would bring the boat home one day, put the trailer in the driveway where it would go during a hurricane event. mark 4 spots on the drive way for anchors. then use a hammer drill to drill through the drive way. then put in 1 to 2' threaded bolts with concerte epoxy to secrue tie downs. I would get the recessed ones you see in the floors of motorcycle trailers.
this way the tie downs are in the drive way; but not in the way or a hazzard to anyone. then when the strom comes you back the trailer into the spot and strap the trailer to the driveway.
your neigbhors will give you grife until your the only one who can leave after a storm to go get water and groceries because you have you're boat at the house.
