Liveaboard

I just bought a 89 Sea Ray 390 and freshly moved into it. can't beat the life at night sitting in a quiet marina listening to the sounds of silence. I even shut off the AC so there is no water splashing off the side. 29 years old, and intend to stay on it until I get married. If the gods treat me well I can find a little lady to go in on a bigger boat with me! Since I'm 2 days into my venture I'm still getting a grasp on a few things

1. Making use of storage for the clothes that I kept and heavier winter coats
2. What kitchen appliances to get/necessary and where to store them
3. Where to keep the food (seems like space is limited. I need to clean things out and re-organize from a live-a-board mindset)
4. need a comfertable deck chair or two to put on the bow
5. I have commercial spider spray that I use on lines, but they still take over the boat.
6. Is there an official live-a-board thread or is this it?

Goals:
1. find a lightning storm in the distance, drop anchor. Pour a glass of scotch...enjoy
2. Have bikinies outnumber the guys 3 to 1
3. looking forward to winter to enjoy time on the hook where I don't need AC.
4. Learn to fish

Read through this blog for a lot of good info on living aboard including food, storage, appliances, keeping cock roaches out, etc. You might need to go back a few months to the pre-baby posts but there is some really good info from some very experienced and young live aboards.

Just remember, those bikinis end up costing you money. They all wanna go for a ride on the boat and wether it's 40' or 30.... Fuel costs money! Let um come in on someone elses boat (then steal them away with yours) :grin:I did the live aboard for over three years, got married, had girls..... Now the girls want daddy to own a boat, they each gave me money toward the Seahorse.

Im throwing around the idea of selling my boat and buying something like this - (2000 400DB) and living aboard. http://www.boattrader.com/listing/2000-Sea-Ray-400-Sedan-Bridge-100150657

Oh, and also, I work from home but travel many mon-fri (between 150 and 250 nights a year) so I can live anywhere. It would be kind of fun to say "ok, Im going to live in DC for the summer" or "Ill spend a month in NYC" and then go to DC, then back to Jax for the winter, or Key West, etc. Im 27 and single with no pets or plants or anything needing attention. Could be fun.

Take advantage of your youth and travel now my friend. Enjoy the live aboard as the ball and chain and kids will come soon enough and steal you back to traditional house with picket fence and kids with homework.

Truer words have never been spoken. I will be spending today and the next 4 beautiful days at baseball practices, games and grad parties.

Not if you do it when your nest is empty!
