First post ever after lurking for a long time...

I'm very interested in a new 2008 that has never been sold, essentially zero hours. Should I worry about engine seals and gaskets that have been inactive? A genny that has not been used? The price is right....full unused warranty exists. Too good to be true?

Any opinions are much appreciated.

I wouldn't be concerned. What size boat?

It's a 340, I'm strongly considering a deposit sight unseen to secure it, then inspect in person sea trial to follow.

Does anyone know if a genny is standard in the 08 model??? Sea Ray lists gen "options" in their 08 brochure.
Gen was not stated by broker. Boat is otherwise very well equipped.

Many thanks!!!!!

If the price is right, and the deposit is refundable, why not tie it up until you have a chance to take a good look. BTW, what is the price? Good luck. R

If the deposit is refundable, then tie the thing down and go look at it. Not sure if gen is standard or not. I have an '03 340 and use mine all the time, but it really depends on then kind of boating you do...good luck.

I'll definitely put a dep down. I'm assuming the gen remote start is at the helm??? BTW, I'm assuming the gen feeds off the main fuel tanks?

Is there a need to switch fuel tank feeds underway or do they automatically balance out?

Obviously this will be my first twin.

Thanks again.

The generator remote start is at the power panel in the cabin. The fuel tanks are for each engine.

Seems odd to me that a 2008 340DA (one of S/R's most popular Sundancers) would still be a new left over....Curious, what is the engine / drive combo?

Sea Ray offers several Gens as options. It doesn't matter as long as the boat has a gen set. If the boat did not have one it would be a difficult sell later on. Look into the sert # on the aft starboard side, call Sea Ray at 1 865 971- 6250 an inquire where the boat was delivered to, and ask the Sea Ray customer service rep to e mail you a build bill on that boat. It will describe all the options that came with the boat, also if the boat was delivered under a customer name.( they will not revile the customer name.) Next ask if the boat was ever documented. If not you know that the vessel was never sold to any one. Locate a doc agent in your area, present an offer to the dealer, with the understanding that your doc agent will hold the deposit in escrow. This way if you change your mind then the money will not be held for 30 days before it is released. Just because the boat is an 08 and never sold does not mean that it is suspect. Best of luck in the search.

In some cases you can have cross over tanks. If you do have cross over tanks you should have two pet cock like switchs in the bilge. You will be able to close off one tank and run both engines off of the other tank. This works out well for weight distribution or if the fuel in one tank gets contaminated. Also, the gen should use the fuel from one of the tanks.

No cross overs that I have ever seen. Not really sure which tank the gen set on our boat pulls from. Not really that concerned about it, as we don't have a need to run the gennnie all the time, nor do we let the fuel get too low. It holds about 225 gallons; thus, it'll last a while.

I wanna say the gennie pulls from the starboard tank, and on my 04' 340 there is no switch over thingie for the gas tanks.

I have a 2007 Sea Ray 38 and the gen feeds off the starboard engine only. There is no cross over. I also owned a 2004 Sea Ray 320, same scenario. Both boats came with generators as a standard options. I would suspect the generator is standard on the new boat.
