Lake Erie Boaters

Roller,

I think he might be referring to Marina Del Isle, which if I am not mistaken is in East Harbor.

Ah - makes sense. Thanks Randy.

Dave, I came down on this wkd too. What a lake! We stopped at DYC for the night on Friday. The wind was fierce up there on Saturday morning, but everyone (incl mafor) in OH kept insisting that Erie was nice. Glad we went.

Here's a blurb from a news announcement I found on the Middlebass Website about the progress of the marina.

"We shall re-water the basin this fall. We believe this should be done mid November.
Over the winter there will not be access to the marina or facilities.
Next Spring we will be having the docks delivered. These are being built over the winter off site and delivered next spring. We are still on target for some docks to be usable next June.
Next spring & summer roads will be established to the boat ramp and marina area along with walk paths within the continuing construction zone.
The big blue barn - former Roesch barn, has been moved to a northern site for future park operations.
The water tower, will be erected next spring, with water and sewer lines being run into the marina late next summer. Electric will also be established late next summer to the docks. In the mean time we will be using the old standby restrooms - port-a-jons until the new infrastructure is established. Once the new water, sewer & electric is in we should be able to hook up our restroom shower trailer and use them until we get the more permanent restrooms built."

Just FYI...it will be nice to add another destination on the lake!

An update....

I took the boat into the harbor 2 Sundays ago. The place really is starting to look like a marina and a nice one at that. The docks were in and they were installing the composite decking between the finger docks and the main docks.

Taking a look at the Middle Bass website, it now says the marina will be open July 1st and is taking reservations already. The bummer, NO water OR Power until NEXT year. :smt089

Anchors Away Marina here. No swimming pool although East Harbor state park beach is not far away. They do have air-conditioned and clean restrooms, along with a bar restaurant in the marina. Crabby Joe’s is the restaurant in the marina and the Crows Nest is just across the parking lot both places offer live entertainment on the weekends.
Was at Gem Beach Marina for a few years until I had enough of the way it was operated. If anyone has docked at Gem Beach they will understand. So I am now at Anchors Away Marina great people that run it and that dock there.

I have been at Gem Beach Marina for 8 years and I absolutely love it. The atmosphere is great and it is beautiful. No other marina has the amount of amenities that Gem Beach has. I know of a guy who got kicked out of Gem Beach and went to Anchors Away because he took a pee off the dock at 8 in the morning in front of a family of 5 with 3 small children. Is that you Doug? Gem Beach is too classy for you I guess.

Any boaters out of Edgewater Park area or the Rocky River? I am trying to track down a good person for redoing some boat cushions on a '78 SRV 300 Express. Thanks.

Thread revival!

Hello all! We are in West Harbor at Midway Marina on Catawba Island in Port Clinton, OH. Dock 476. Stop by and say hello and maybe have a drink!

We are there most of the time from April to October 31st! It's our summer place! We would be more than happy to talk to experienced boaters that are familiar with Lake Erie. We're planning on taking at least 5 trips to Put-In-Bay, a couple of trips to Kelley's Island, a couple of rendezvous with our Power Squadron(Toledo) and at least one trip to Cleveland to check out the Marina at The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!

We would definitely appreciate any advice!

Cheers
