Lake Erie Boaters

Anchors Away Marina here. No swimming pool although East Harbor state park beach is not far away. They do have air-conditioned and clean restrooms, along with a bar restaurant in the marina. Crabby Joe’s is the restaurant in the marina and the Crows Nest is just across the parking lot both places offer live entertainment on the weekends.
Was at Gem Beach Marina for a few years until I had enough of the way it was operated. If anyone has docked at Gem Beach they will understand. So I am now at Anchors Away Marina great people that run it and that dock there.

I was actually looking at gem beach once we get a bigger boat. Looks nice but obviously not ran right? Care to air you grievances?

We docked at Sandusky Yacht Club for several years and then moved to West Harbor for one. Now we are moving to A38 at Son Rise. The worst nights we have ever spent on the boat have been at Portside. I said I would never go back but did this year. Never again. No matter where you dock there is a surge

All I can say is, "ask others that have docked at Gem Beach their thoughts about Gem Beach and why they went else where to dock. I know of alot of boaters that have left never to go back.

Funny I am actually considering going to Gem Beach this year. I was at Winkie's last season and since he sold the Marina I am considering moving. I will always keep my boat at Winkies Storage and have them do all my mechanic work because Mr. Winkie is Super Nice and has taken really good care of me since getting my boat last season.

Anyway a lot of people have left Gem Beach because they pulled a good majority of the docks out and raised the prices, but they are one of the only places that will let me put my 260 DA in a 25' slip rather then a 30' making the 1250 price tag only 100 bucks more then FoxHaven and Winkies (Now Catawba Landings). The marina is gorgeous and the location can't be matched. I do doubt they would let Winkie's come into the Marina to work on my boat which may end up driving me to FoxHaven which has a pretty good location as well. I still know a lot of people at Gem Beach and my girlfirends parents docked there for 15 years before moving over to Winkies due to price, but they have a much bigger boat then we do.

So im still up in the air but I don't think I will go back to Catawba Landing's this year because its a long haul to get on the lake and they used to have really good prices but now are in line with all the rest.

Hey, welcome to CPM Dan! I have some friends on 14 - I think you'll like it there. Great view and your own parking lot. The trees block the wind - great for docking, but you might want a few fans blowing in the cockpit on hot days.

See Ray, what's MDI?

I boat out of Port Dover Harbor Marina....we travel on the lake, alot of the time we do a crossing over to Erie PA and stay at the yacht clubs there. we have been done the west end of the lake twice, the water can be tricky going done there, we have travelled both the Canadian side and the American side..great places to visit
