Thanks. Sounds like what I was thinking. Getting on the Key West Express might help with the urge to get on the water as well if I don't have a boat down there by then. Maybe I can talk the captain into letting me on the bridge for a tour (they probably don't do that anymore - sigh)Key West, IMO, is great in small doses. Certainly there are other things to do there, but for us it’s 4 or 5 days at a time to let our hair down a little and people watch. It’s a party place.
When we spent time in the keys on the boat, we stayed in Marathon. We felt that it was more boat friendly with places to go by dinghy (and half the price, that really matters at least for us when your staying 2 months). We took the boat to Key West for 4 days so we could enjoy it and not have to ride back to Marathon on the bus. If we were going for a weeks vacation, we’d definitely go to Kew West though.
If you are going to be in south west Florida, IMO, probably the best way to go to Key West for a getaway is on the Key West Express. We like other places in Florida better for longer term stays.
