June 7-10-2007 Panama City Beach Rendezvous

Get some flight line and a skyhook. Sorry I just had to do that.

Hey Hampton you might be onto something. I'll look at some launch sites that I can leave the truck and trailer at and just run to the marina by water  . Any of you PCB area guys have any suggestions.

Your best bet for a slip with parking is at Priates Cove, but St. Andrews State Park is right across the lagoon from Bay Point if you are hung up on that location. THe park has one of the nicest ramps in the nearby area.

Heck no I'm not hung up on any location. I just like to have as many options available to me so when something doesn't work out I've got a back up plan. Pirates Cove looks great to me if I can get in, but they don't take reservations so I'll talk to shelia like you suggested and keep my fingers crossed but, I'm not holding my breath. I guess it's the old military(navy) in me.

Thanks for the reply and PMs with suggestions. I'll be off the net most of this month but will check in when I can and see what's happening on this thread :smt001

Just so you know whats going on, I've been off of the internet lately and will be for the rest of this month because I'm deep into a house flip up in Taylors SC and am working my butt off megahours to get it completely rehabbed before a potential March 30th close.... depending on if I get it finished in time (and the sale goes through per the contract) will have a huge impact on my cashflow and ability to go play on the boat over the next few months.

Charles to the rescue... sort of!

Hey guys,

If you want to drop the boats and then go store the trailers, I have room for several on the lots I have for equipment storage. The lots have six feet of fence with barbed wire and a locking gate. I think it is only five to ten minutes from the Panama City marina. You can drop the boat and I'll get you to the lot to drop the trailers and then you can go back to the boats by truck. I can probably store 10+ trailers and trucks if we put them in there right and maybe a few more.

Just post back and I wil shoot you my phone number and we will get the details worked out. I am currently checking with some of the "locals" I know to see if we can get some private docking space for a couple of you. It will not be at a marina but probably at a private dock but i will know more on that later.

noleball, hey thanks for a solution to my problem, send me a note with your number and I'll talk to you about it. I'm not sure but I may be the only person needing to park a trailer. I do have a reservation at a local marina. Thanks Mike

Noleball, many thanks. If I can make it I'll be needing to also. I'll send you a PM.
Gerald

Not a problem guys. As I said, the lot is only about 5-10 minutes from the ramp and I will gladly run you back to the ramp if you want to leave your truck. I will be checking the posts so let me know at noleball@hotmail.com if you need to be parked. I will give you my number via email if you need to be parked...

Hey Yall, I am from the Ft. Walton Beach / Pensacola area, and wanted to mention to you that if you have enough time in your schedule, Crab Island in Destin is a neat place to anchor the boat in shallow clear water for a day in the water. My girlfriend prefers it since she can see clearly what is in the water around her and many varying depths. It's located on the North side of the Destin Bridge, you can't miss it, it's HUGE. Its great in the morning before the crowds arrive, we always seem to catch the schools of dolphins close to the Coat Guard Station before the bigger crowds roll in. http://www.destin-ation.com/boating_crab_island.htm In addition, the intracoastal waterway through Ft. Walton Beach and Navarre to Pensacola is a nice scenic ride.

I second the Crab Island idea. It's actually a Crab Sand Shoal, and doesn't have any dry land. It's on our list of destinations again this Summer. Be advised, it's lots of fun for drinking and debauchery.

Pass.......I'm not interested in running 3 hours just to anchor out with 5,000 boats when we have georgous water and clean sand beaches along either side of a 12 mile barrier island at home.

Please remove my name from the possible list. Panama confilts with my HH trip which I have been trying to go on for 5 years. My wife and I discussed the two trips and we decided since I am a day short of vacation approval HH would be a better choice this year. I hope everyone has a great time in Panama.

Thanks

Paul

Clarification - I don't think it's a good idea for this particular rendevous, but I do think it's a good party.

Well I'll have to pass also. I can make one big trip this year and the Carolina trip down to Charleston this month will be it; working out another excursion trailering my Sundancer all the way down to PCB won't be possible. :smt009

Have a great time and take lots of photos :smt001

So, if I mentioned the 'Poon Toon', you'd probably know what I was referring to?
