Jones Beach air Show Memorial Day 2015

I'm shooting for early AM sat as the tide is dead low around 10am. Staying with the group till Monday at least . Vice Aversa is a day tripper for Sat, then returns with another boat Sunday/Monday other boat is a 350 DA

... For the NYC statue of liberty crew . I think 1030-11 would be pushing it. The bay fills up very quickly and people get very touchy when it comes to floats holding spots lol ask me how I know! So the earlier the better if at all possible ...

Roger that, Jonathan. We'll try to arrive earlier. I just looked at my log , which showed that last year we casualy arrived by 9:45am. I hope we could match it this year.

....I also am placing a couple of calls about the possible dinner plans for Sunday night. I know one of the co-owners of Tropix on the Mile in Freeport. When I reach him, I am going to ask if he can make arranges for our group and reserve 2 or 3 spots for our boats along his dock. I will give more details and put it up for a vote as to whether or not we like this plan when I reach him, unless anyone has an opinion one way or another now. The website for the restaurant is www.tropixonthemile.com.

How many people can 3 50'ers take?.....LOL

Harold,
we have a few boats from our marina which will be "day trippers" Maybe they could bring your gang out to the raft?
Flip side is could have them go to Jones Beach and park in lot and shuttle them by dingy?

Ron, we might consider the option of the ride with one of your friends, but I was hoping to get them myself particularly because the kids will not have life jackets and will need them. We were also hoping to avoid putting our friends through the nightmare that is the end of show traffic jam. One of our ideas of having them park in Freeport and pick them up from there so that if we do go to Sunday dinner we can drop them off when we get to the restaurant.

Harold Friday night we will most likely have to stay anchored out separate so we take up more room. As of right now I have two small anchors two floats and countless orange jackets to hold the space in between our boats. Guessing were going to need about 300 feet of real estate to join the 20+ boats we have coming so we need to figure out how were going to keep floats in place.

Jonathan,
i agree that we will need to stay separated from each other and Ron so that we can take up enough area to hold enough space for us all. I have a stern anchor that I will deploy to keep the orientation. I will grab as many extra lines that I have so that hopefully we can sting them between us with orange life jackets tied off to them. I have quite a few also. Hopefully you and Ron have a stern anchor as well so we can stay parallel. Using one of the small anchors you have, we can also anchor one of our dinghies, if we can spare it. Although if we are separating our boats, we will need the dinghys to get back and forth to each other. Since I am the biggest boat in this group, PARTY IS ON MY BOAT FOR FRIDAY NIGHT!!!

I don't think cg will like us running a line in between boats. Not to mention it's probably not the smartest thing either. I thought a lot snot doing it last year but my biggest concern was there's always that one guy that just doesn't pay attention and will run right into the line. So last year I decided to just drop little mini anchors and tie floats to them so bring floats and anchors. I have 2 floats and 2 anchors.

Party by u Friday night sounds good to me!

I guess the line between us is not the best thing to do......Call that one a "brain fart" :smt021
I will try to get some floats and anchors set up as well.

A dozen of these should keep the other boaters at bay...

Instead of going through the Hassel of going out to dinner do u guys want to do a family style dinner? Everybody bring a dish and we have a nice dinner together? Just a thought. We can set up all the dinners on the back of my boat since I probably have the most open space.

I like that plan...

I thought it was the plan for all other nights...LOL

This is true I have a few reasons I don't c going to dinner feasible
1.were going to be over an hour away from 25 boats tired up and on the hook.
2. The nautical mile is absolution kaotic on memorial weekend and getting a slip for 3 boats will b near impossible
3 I don't think we're fitting around 50 people 3 or 4 boats
4. I can almost guarantee at least one of our boats will be boarded by cg or worse Nassau police while leaving the mile
And 5 no offense Harold I love hanging out at tropics to have a few cocktails but there food is not the best and there service especially when there going to b as busy as they will be will be very slow.

If it becomes too complicated, we can just stay at Zach's. It's no big deal if we don't go out for dinner. I think we can play it by ear.

Plus, we also need to see what the weather will be like.

No offense taken. My main reason for suggesting it was knowing an owner who may have been able to hold dock space. I also agree that the food is not the greatest, but I always hope for the best. I had wanted to try to work it out for E.B. Elliott's (my friend owns part of that one too) but the dock space would not have been impossible to arrange.

On the boats we stay!! Unless we set up tables on the shore line? I am not sure if the Park Police would like that.

love the idea of tables on the beach if we are allowed to
