It's almost boating season for much of the country

Next year, if I get a boat over the summer, I'm putting a 65,000 btu gas furnace in my engine room to be sure it can maintain 47.3573290321*.
You mean you're not going to buy one of those crappy bilge heaters?

I'm a first time boater I found a great deal on craigs list . 1984 weekender overnighter with a mid cabin. So you all think I should get a survey done.I think getting a survey is a waste of money I know what I'm doing. Thanks for all your input but I'll do what I want. Oh ya it has a alpha 1 with a big block . What dose WOT stand for. Yesterday I filled both gas tanks now the water in the sink smells like gas.

my engine's starter went bad so i got a new one from an auto parts store that was designed for a 350 GM car engine....saved $10!!!!!!....

i could not afford to buy a marine bilge heater so i use light bulbs and extension cords in the bilge....i put in a ceramic heater from my house in the bilge on really cold nights...

the anti-siphon valve on my fuel tank got clogged so i just removed the check ball and put it back on....

my old carpet left pieces of backing embedded in the non-skid so i am going to use a mixture of sulfuric acid, bleach, acetone, and simple green to see if that will take it up...

i can't get the stains out of the vinyl in my cockpit so i am going to go by Dollar General and get 10 cans of white spray paint and paint the seats....

i need to store my camper windows over the summer so i am just going to fold them and squish them into a small storage bag...they are dirty now but i don't think i will clean them until i get them out next year.....

my waste holding tank is smelling up the engine room so i am going to keep using it until i can see a sign of where it is leaking....

i know the dangers of CO from the generator so i am going to take the CO detector out of my cabin and place it in the cockpit...when i run the generator at night while we sleep the detector will go off before the CO comes in to the cabin...i think i will be able to hear the alarm when it goes off...

my boat came from the factory with a 14.5" x 17P prop....i want more top speed so i am going to replace it a 20" x 23P prop......

i don't like the way my OEM stereo system sounds so i am hiring a small band to go with me on cruises to play live music....

i got a used trailer to use with my 280....it is a little small for my boat and only has a single axle with bald Carlisle tires and i am going to pull the boat/trailer with a Mazda 6...i positoned the bunks so that there is about 10' of boat overhang on the rear of the trailer which is good because now there is no tounge weight at all...that should make it easier on the Mazda....i may even think about adding surge brakes on the trailer at some point...

i want a fancy table in my cockpit so i am having one made out of stainless steel and diamonds....i am having it installed by a company so that the table can be lowered into the engine room and out of sight with the push of a button....

the OEM horn on my boat quit working so i installed a large 'gong' on the deck....now when i need to get the attention of another boat i instruct the Admiral to go up on the deck and hit the gong a couple times....

i want a better 'hole shot' out of my 180 so i am having roush racing build me a 502 cid with a blower and dual turbos....prop horse power should be somewhere 850 - 900.....i should be able to pull at least two skiers at the same time and still be able to plane the boat if i don't have a lot of people on board....i may have to use trim tabs though...

i want to upgrade the electronics on my boat so i hired someone to transfer all the gauges from an F-18 fighter jet to my dash...they look good but i still have to read the manuals to get a full understanding how they work....

i am not very good at docking my boat so i am thinking about installing one of those systems from the new cars that automatically parellel parks the car...then all i have to do is get close to the dock and let the system take over.....

Someone told me that the best way to keep the bilge warm is to vent the exhaust from my Honda generator on the swim platform down into the bilge, but my used vacuum hose isn't long enough, so I moved my generator into the cockpit. That way the cockpit stays warm to when I have all my canvas up. Boy this is a fun thread!

Cliff, YOU should be instructing boating courses.

Love it. Still laughing

Soooo....there are no dumb questions, but if you ask a dumb question and choose not to accept smart answers or reasonable advice then you get mocked? Just want to make sure I'm clear on the official CSR process, because I'd rather not have to remove all my posts after I buy the biggest, most expensive engines ever known to man or alien and install the operating-as-expected-and-as-advertised-NASA-grade-bilge-heater that will send all of you into paroxysms of ER envy.

I can honestly say that the only people that have ever been mocked on this board are the ones that begged for it. The ones that came with an attitude, and just wanted to be argue about something, or the ones that refused to accept reasoning regarding safety issues.

There's not a person on this forum that hasn't made their share of stupid mistakes.

Not here in Jersey, suppose to get 3 more inches worth of snow flurries on Friday, Ice on lake has melted down to only 8 inches thick. There's too much snow to ride my quad in the woods. And my boat is still snowed in and can't be moved..................

I'm sure this will not be the last question I got but when I turn the bilge pump on water comes out of the side of the boat for about 15 minutes and it leave an oil rainbow in the water and then i'm a quart low on oil in the crank case. One more question how much water should you put back in the out drive after you drain the old water out?

That's an easy one. Put a bucket under the outdrive and drain the old water out. This way you can measure how much of the new synthetic water should should put back in. Make sure it's OEM Synthetic water though or you may run in to problems down the road. Just ask my how I know.
