Just think of boating as "good negative cash flow"!!!I do love the boating lifestyle however you have to have a open mind to enjoy it.

I still haven't done that.FastMark, does your state rebate the off road tax you pay back to you at year end?
Washington does. A boater can send in receipts showing the number of gallons the road tax was paid on the state sends them a check for the tax.

Luckily up at Winthrop Harbor I could avoid the $4.099 diesel by running up to Racine where it was $2.749 per gallon.I've never even thought to research if this is a possibility, tbh. But I just did, and the answer (as I suspected), is no.
(One of the badges of honor for living in Chicago (Illinois) is being able to pay some of the highest tax percentages in the nation. Marine diesel was about $4.20/gallon this summer.)

I checked into doing that a couple of years ago and found out I'd need to buy a one-time delivery permit that cost $500.I had my tanks topped off by a fuel delivery truck last week at about $3.00 a gallon. The guy’s price usually mirrors about what the average price for diesel at the local pumps are.
Geez..... it would cost more to sailSo my price is going to be $2.39.0. We took on 246.7 gallons
Cool.
Yeah, and not be as much fun!Geez..... it would cost more to sail

I think that's pretty standard across the country. Here in NY the off road diesel is dyed red so they can tell that it hasn’t been road taxed and that’s what he delivers to boats.
