is there any other 410 415 or 440 ac owners out there

I’m not exactly sure what you’re telling me...?

I thought you were saying that the boat couldn’t get her bow up. Are you instead saying that you never tried?

Her hull speed will be under 10 knots. Remember, that’s calculated using LWL not LOA.

During a test drive, before purchasing the boat and with the seller driving, the engines were run up to about 3,400 rpm but the bow never rose up significantly and the boat didn't feel like it was up on plane like my old CC 380 did. I'll have to measure the LWL. In the past I just observed the bow wave and the point where it started on the boat's hull. I thought the speed where that point reached the stern was the hull speed; do you think that's generally correct?

RW, can you post a couple of pix of the fixtures?
rondds, here are some pictures of the fixtures that I'm having trouble getting opened to replace the bulbs. The companion way light is easy to remove from the panel, but it's not obvious how to take it apart. The nav light's fasteners can be turned but won't unscrew from the fixture and the fixture won't budge when I apply some fairly strong force to it.

I have not had to change the lightbulbs on my side lights yet, but I just did the top two that make up the all around anchor light. My anchor light works, but the forward white running light does not. That light bulb lights in anchor mode, but not running mode. Must be the dash switch.

I did do an engine oil/filter change a few weeks ago. Mine has this awesome reverso pump installed. I needed a new impeller, but once I had that, the job was easy. I put in Sinopec Sythetic blend. I bought it for $45/5 gallon bucket. I have run the boat for about 12 hours since doing the oil change, and all is good.

I had to replace the Westerbeke Water pump. What fun that was.

Next up is to barnacle bust the heat exchangers on the engine.

Did you figure out how to get to your lights?

I tried mine, and the screws just turn in place also. I wouldn't mind going LED, but mine work, so I don't really want to create a problem. It seems that they are behind the compartments on each side in the bridge, but no way to get to the backing.

I did all my zincs today. They really needed it. I could only find five per engine. Each side of the oil cooler. Each side of the heat exchanger. Didn't see any on the exhaust elbow.

Regarding the navigation lights and spinning screws I had to drill mine out and replace with a slightly larger screw.

I drilled out my starboard one the other day. Using a larger screw instead of a bolt worked perfectly. The light was actually not burned out, but water had been getting in there. I sprayed with some penetrant, and the light came on. Caulked it up good and all is well. Thinking of caulking my other one as I suspect water is getting in there as well.

Reviving the thread. New to me 1987 SR 410 AC. It seems to be a really well built boat. I am wondering . I believe it to be a solid fiberglass hull, no core. Am I correct on that? I haven't had much experience with the boat yet since I have it only a month now and winter is here. Looking forward to some time on the finger lakes and more this coming summer.

Posting your complete hull id # will help getting an answer from possibly @fwebster or others.

I think the only way to get a definite answer to your question is to contact Sea Ray Customer Service and inquire as to the construction used on the 1987 410AC.

The HIN# tells us that your boat was produced at the Merritt Island factory. Merritt Island has been closed for years so there is no data available from the factory, only information that has been computerized and transferred to the Main Frame, which usually very complete.

However, the history of Merritt Island production was that the factory there did produce some boats that had balsa cored hull sides but none were produced with cored bottoms. This information goes back to 2001. So the only way to verify this and find out if your boat is a cored hull boat is by contacting Customer Service.

Good luck with your search……..

Since I purchased my boat in December. I have not had much time to familiarize myself with it too much since I had it covered the next week. I am looking at the Intellisteer system. My boat only has controls on the flybridge and was thinking this would be nice if I needed to step away (while at slow speed of course) to have the remote steer option. What Auto Pilot was on the 87 410 AC. Was it the Wagner? Trying to purchase some items to have come April when I could start working on it. TIA
