is there any other 410 415 or 440 ac owners out there

We are new 1987 410AC owners and the original refrigerator has finally give up the ghost. What is the best way to get it out of there? The doorway is to narrow but it appears from the outside that the fiberglass panel the door slides over can be taken off after you take the door off. Is that true and if so how big a job is it.

Thanks
Bruce

I've heard of other people with a similar problem who had the fridge repaired in the boat.

Ron, you're probably referring to stories of Nevercold units in EC's & DA's. The aft-cabin situation is different. Bruce's fridge is a full-size, A/C powered household unit.

My former neighbors replaced theirs by removing the sliding door and the access panel to stbd. They never detailed the process of removing the panel, but I got the impression that it wasn't a big deal.

Hello Joe
We have a 1987 410 aft cabin. We are located in Midland Ontario, gateway to Georgian Bay, by some accounts the best fresh water boating in the world.
If you have any ideas how to make it go faster, burn less fuel and wax itself, I have open ears.

We've have a 1990 440 AC for about 15 months and working to restore her. She's in Myrtle Beach and has Cat 3208 (375). I have learned a lot of mostly what not to do. Be glad to help you avoid my mistakes.
Currently I'm looking for a forward docking light (part 158961, Flush Mounted Docking Light). Any thoughts???
Bob

Good evening, Bob,

My wife and I have a contract on a 1990 440AC with Cat 3208TA's. Survey is tomorrow and if everything checks out as expected we will be closing in a couple of weeks. I'm sure I'll be contacting you in the near future for advice!

If everything goes as planned, I'll be driving it from south Florida to Galveston in a few weeks!

Any luck finding the docking lights?

Joe

Captain Rusty,

If you still are active on the forum I have a couple of questions for you. I just purchased a 1990 440AC and am wondering if you have access to any specs on that model? Specifically I was wondering what size wheels were installed at the factory? I have the twin 3208TAs with Twin disk transmissions. The boat currently has 4 blade, 24x26s installed.
Also, looking for the factory aft wetbar. Do you know of any salvage yards that speialize in older Sea Rays?
Thanks!

Joe

Bob,

Sent you a private message. We bought the 1990 440AC and have moved it to Galveston. Looking to pick your brain on issues you've faced while refurbishing your 440.

Thanks!

Joe

Spent this summer refurbishing a '87 410AC. She's now renamed (with appropriate gifts to Poseidon) as "RaySea Lady"...

the app and my iPad aren't working well tonight. Will post a pic from the PC tomorrow.

Hello everyone
Just purchased a 1997 420 aft cabin little over a month ago with 3116 diesels and 8 kW Westerbeke. I was wondering what others have done when and if they replaced their spacemaker coffee maker. Mine has seemed to give up the ghost (doesn't pump the water).
As a proud owner of this fine boat it would also be nice to know where other Sea Ray aft cabin owners are located in the Chesapeake Bay Area. We are at Summit North.

You might be able to find one on ebay, but be prepared to overspend!

Too bad there are so many comments by people with boats other than those 3 in the title. It makes reading the thread very difficult and irrelevant.

About to get a Sea Ray 415 AC. Chasing some leaks. The two hanging lockers in the aft cabin and the laundry room. Any thoughts?

About the only thing it could be is the rail stanchions and mounting hardware for the aft deck coaming, right?

The screws for aft-most port stanchion are accessible through the cabinet in the head. I can't help you with a strategy for the stbd side. That could a challenge.

Regarding the leaks. I see the entire aft deck coaming. Do I try to lift up the entire thing and rebed it? Or do I just caulk around the base of it? Could there be a leak down the insides of the arch? There is also the frame of the two clear doors. Thoughts?

I think it would be relatively simple to caulk around the base and wing-door frame, so I would do that first. It's not mounted to an are that's subject to flexing nor much water. (with decent a decent canvas enclosure, water may seep past the doors and also along the upper arch and down the steps, but the bulk of the aft deck stays completely dry even in a hard rain - as you can see, it's a substantial hardtop)

The stanchion is different. I recommend re-bedding those whether they're determined to be a source of current source of intrusion or not.
