Hey guys,
So I am seriously thinking about installing a AC unit in my 03 260 Sundancer. The boat never had AC from the factory. I was wondering if anyone here ever installed one of scratch and would like to share their experience with helpful suggestions. Some of you have had great suggestions on previous projects I have completed. I was able to secure a great dealer price form a manufacturer in FL if I order the unit through my business!

I just installed a AC unit on my 260 last year. The install is very easy and can be completed in a weekend. The only difficult part is trying to feed the ducting from the unit to the aft cabin, It took 3 people and about 3 hours to feed the ducting behind the bathroom. I don't have
many pics but I am going to run out the boat in a few weeks and I will be sure to take a few more pics.

Another option is a portable unit that fits over the hatch. I had one on my 250 Monterey, worked well but a PITA to put on and remove but it worked well for those days and nights that were uncomfortable. If you think you will only need AC for a few days a season it may be an option for you. This is what i had; http://www.myboatsgear.com/mbg/product.asp?prodID=1352

Thanks Andy.

Which way did you run the electric for the unit to the breaker panel? Did you route it through the front under the V bearth then back under the sink and behind the refrigerator to the panel? I know i have to run wire back behind the bathroom to the engine compartment for the sea water pump. And how was it getting the condesate line to the shower drain pump?

Thanks Paul. Dont want to go the portable route. I have enough stuff in the cabin to begin with.

I looking for AC units check www.Mermaid.com another thing you should consider is having heat with your AC unit. I have installed the Mermaid units and have had real good luck with them.

I am going with Mermaid! They gave me a great price and they have a 5 year warranty. Dont really need the heat because we only sleep out June - September.

I did a few years back on an older 268 sundancer. Was easy Tom @ flagshipmarine.com was very helpfull and his price was on the money.

I ran the wiring in the v-birth and behind the fridge over to the control panel. I installed a PVC pipe inside the v birth cabinets to hide the wires.

Great spot. We stayed there a few years back when we boated down to Montreal with a few other boats. The good marina folks drove us over to Upper Canada Golf course and even picked us up when we were finished. We stayed there over night on the way down to Montreal and on our way back as well. While staying there on our return trip, we got caught in a micro-burst and experienced some major top damage due to the heavy pelting of large hail stones. We are talking about heading down that way again on our annual 2 week summer cruise. We will also be going to Brockville for the Canada Day long weekend.
