my anchors dont fit in the bow seating.. i tried.. lol

U got some big anchors...lol. Well, check into those storage tubs, maybe that would be an inexpensive fix for some of the storage issues.

yea i like those storage bins that go under the seating ... just gotta save up and pick em up! anchors still wont fit there.. and the anchor is the size that came with my boat from the dealer.. when i went to buy the other one i just bought an identical one.. so i guess i have the right size if sea ray gives that size wen you buy the boat!

I think this forum is Doomed........ :smt021

Shades of SRO....pitty!!!!! :smt089

After BIH I think it will be personal emails..... :smt101

cr0ck1,

You missed the moderator's point.

This is a dedicated, i.e. dedicated to one brand, not a general boating forum. One of the strengths of dedicated forums is getting specific help to those who need it......even 185 owners. If threads are allowed to ramble and wander all over the place .......in this case from the subject of "I need help -trading boats" to "where you store an anchor" the ability to search the CSR site for relevant information is completely defeated.

If everyone makes the effort to stay on subject, then the site is more valuable and useful to everyone. After all, it cost the same to just start a new topic if you decide to solve your anchor storage problem instead of trading boats.

:smt017 I agree we should stay on topic and I think we still are.

The subject is about trading boats. Comparing where you store your anchor on a 185 and the amount of storage room and space a 185 has it definitly within the topic. Storage space and room would be a big consideration when moving from a smaller boat to a bigger boat.

But now starting with Wes's post, and the one from cr0ck1, and one from ImpulseIII and the on from fwebster, and now Mine.

That makes 5 posts that are off topic talking about about posts you might think were off topic but I saw no problem with them.

In the future someone will come read this thread and see why someone might of been wanting to upgrade from a 185 and they will see it might be cause there is no room for the anchor and they will also see there are bins available for the 185.

Anyways I've said my piece, back to our regulary scheduled program.

In 2000 I finally conviced my wife to get a boat. She wanted to start small, she wan't sure if she or the kids would like it. Well, we bought a 2000 Four Winns 170 bowrider. I wanted to start with a 205 Sundowner. Nope, she said, too big...

Well guess what?

Next summer we were looking for something bigger.

We spent 6 summers with that boat, always looking but could never justify the bigger payments and terms.

After the 6 years, we were able to sell it ourselves and break even with a little extra in our pockets.

Every year we would put a little $$$ away and when we sold the Four Winns, we had enough saved plus the extra from the sale to buy a bigger boat. Yes, it's 17 years old, but in great shape and we have NO PAYMENTS!!!!!!!!!!!

I would live with the boat you have now. Keep it in tip-top condition and in a few years, you'll be able to do the same.

Ever wonder why we are starting to get a lot of repeated questions on CSR?

Well, if you think "I need help trading boats" and "storing anchors in plastic tubs" is searchable, this may be one reason for repeat questions/threads because new guys can't find anything on topic when they search.

It's y'all' s topic............all I care about is getting Sea Ray owners the information they need to enjoy their boats. Keep on with wandering topics and 185 owners won't be able to search for anything relevant.

I agree it would be nice to have information that's easy to find, but most people Post their question before they even bother searching.

No they really do not, a couple of new people do, but most of the members including the members that have been around for a while will do a search before posting. That is why you will see topics that say I did a search and can't find anything on this...anyone know...

Your tow vehicle looks a little small for a sundeck. Better buy a larger truck first.

You need to read more marketing data! Those Marketing people know what they're talking about right? :smt043

A Jeep Liberty is rated to tow 6000 lbs. (or is it 5000?) properly equipped.

<Ok, clown hat off> I'm surprised the tow vehicle thing came up and died off so quick. It's a very good point, but anyone that's never towed something that outweighs the tow vehicle by 2000-4000 lb's will be quick to believe a brochure and a salesman. Soooo many vehicles are "rated" to tow soooo much trailer, but that doesn't mean it's safe or won't kill the truck.

I went from a 5500# modified Expedition (light duty truck) that would tow mine like there was almost nothing back there, and had great power and even stopped well, then I went to a heavy duty truck that outweighs the boat by anywhere from 500-1000 lb's and is tow rated/limited to keep the classification right, and it's night an day.

I know people do it, and in many cases it's infrequent enough that the odds are on their favor and newer trucks/SUV's are more capable, but physics is physics is physics and no manufacture is building a light duty vehicle to tow 2 times it's weight every day. Then consider braking, maneuvering, pulling a boat up a steep ramp etc.

For the record, I know someone towing a 7500# Nordic with an Armada. Besides the obvious, sorry MPG (loaded or unloaded as with all of them) it actually tows that boat pretty well. It's not a HD truck, but it does a good job. The Nordic is also on a triple axle trailer which makes all the difference in the world. So yes, they can, but set up and frequency makes a difference.

Mine has never strained or slipped on a ramp, stops on a dime, tows like a dream. However, it's less than ideal as a daily driver for 95% of people that recreational boat. So it's a trade-off on both sides.

Ok, my caffeine induced tow vehicle commentary in a thread about a possible boat upgrade that has all but died anyway, is now complete. :smt043

This topic is done, feel free to post another topic with subject to stay on if you would like to continue discussing storage of the 185, upgrading to a boat that is bigger than 185, slow work, towing capacity for boats...Thanks for your understanding.
