I just don't understand

Couple things here:

He was Jealous that you have a real boat.

I had a local guy complain about how there gear everything for the local kayakers and not the boater. Because they took a dam out by us witch resulted in the boat ramps sign taken down and a kayak launch sign put up. Now he can't take his bass boat out.
I have a friend that works for the MDOT. He joking complains about bicycles on the road and how they don't belong on the road because they pay to taxes to fund the roads.
Same thing with the Kayakers, They don't pay taxes like the boaters do with the registration and gas tax for maintain boating area's Docks, Ramps...ect.

So here we have a another freeloader complaining about somebody that pays there way.

Why do kayakers need to be anywhere near a fuel dock, it's asking for trouble. The last thing we or they need is other issue to deal with at a fuel dock. I love to kayak, but I would never be around the ramp area or fuel dock unless it's absolutely necessary. That guy was just being a dick.

At my marina the kayak, sailboard, sail dinghy launch dock is right alongside the fuel dock. Not a great design but when the docks were originally constructed there were no kayak and paddle boards on the water. On a weekend afternoon these small craft are a hazard when accessing the fuel. However, they are hugely popular right now and not going away until the fad passes.

they are out of control where we are. they paddle right in front of my slip when I am pulling out as well as when we are reversing in to dock and they pay little to no attention. I get that they have the right of way but it's damn near impossible to determine what these moron kayakers are doing 99% of the time. I hate them.

I have this issue too at my dock. I pull straight into my slip from the bay with no barrier in between except for when the kayakers and the paddleboarders are coming through.

For the most part they get it and see that they will be crushed. A few times I have had to yell out "I can stop as quick as you can" to them.

I happen to enjoy watching them go by though. Well actually it's the 20-50 something women mostly. Lol.

Smithfield, VA did it right. Probably because private money and common sense were involved in the process from the planning stages forward.

exactly the same here... my slip is straight into the bay as well. Also they've really pushed kayaking so now whenever we go to drop anchor in our secret little coves there are now like 20 kayakers there. Plus they now kayak and stand up paddle board past the slow no wake areas right through the shipping channels to get to the secret little coves and then act all surprised with real boats fly by them at full speed WOT in the shipping channels.

During 4th of July here in Napa they have a fireworks show on the river (that is not wide at all) a kayaker was struck by a boat this year. Apparently the kayak was in the middle of the channel that is maybe and I mean MAYBE 30' wide with no lights or anything. They guy was fine but still..... why on earth would you be out at night with no markers or anything.

The city of Buffalo has been experiencing an amazing renaissance, in particular at our inner and outer harbors. Of course, every action has a reaction and the downside to all the wonderful activity (like TONS of kayaks and paddlers) is that so damn many of them haven't the first clue how to use them and can't even fathom that boats (including freighters and ferries) share the same space.

But here's how the Erie County Sheriff has been handling it. Refreshing to see them focus on the primary problem and not blaming the boaters.

Plenty of people struggle to peacefully interact with their fellow human beings. Don't let them change your standard of conduct or erase your smile. Their lives are constant misery. I choose happiness.

As I said before I'm a big boy you want to cuss and fuss at me because I warned you to stay away from a dangerous area and a moving boat....so be it.

You want to cuss out my daughter because you were warned, my gloves come off!
