I'm actually asking this for a reason... Even if you just read them for info, I'm curious how many and what types of forums people read outside of CSR...

I check out a few and all are related to boating. I know some people have said they belong to others (car related?).

It would seem you would have to be passionate about something to belong to a forum... like boating, cars, marathons(?), etc.. I doubt people set up forums for lawnmowers but who knows.

I visit 6 consistently on a daily basis. Three are boating related. There are about 6 or 8 that I visit beyond the first 6 that I visit periodically, like one or twice a week. It depends on the season of the year too.

Boating = 6
Cruising = 1
Non-water related = 3, all 3 are related to SEO (search engine optimization)

Any others would not be on a regular basis (less then 1x/moth)

So.......10

THis one only. HOLY CRAP! A forum on lawn mowers. Well done Presentation.

Four on a daily basis, all boating. Occasionally I visit forums for my vehicles.

I use to read the others but then decided to only read CSR. Everynow and then if I need a laugh I may go check out one of the others. I think there is something to be said about a brand specific board.

Does anyone know how many "users" are on various forums in total?

94% of forum members have accounts on at least nine forums. 13.4 % of forum members with at least one post will never post a second post. 35.6% of forum members are not actual people but automated spam generating programs that spider the internet looking for forums to spam. If this seems amazing, keep in mind 72.3% of all statistics are made up 93.2% of the time.

Also, how do you keep track of all the "stuff" you read?

Gary, see, we don’t know as much as you so we have more available capacity in our brains to retain useless information.

I probably hit 2 on a daily basis, here and thehulltruth.com. I hit sportfisherman.com about 3 times a week, then there are about 20 others I hit randomly whenever the bug hits me. Those topics would be Boats, Motocross, Jeeps, RC Cars/Planes/Boats etc, vbulletin of course, PWC, software, and who knows whatever else. Lots of em. Whenever I am shopping for something or trying to figure something out the first place I look are internet forums so I am registered on all kinds of stuff. I will usually tack the word "forum" on whatever I am searching for in google. Of course none are run nearly as well as csr :grin::smt101:smt017

I frequent 2-3 other forums that are boating related.
1-2 other vehicle related
1-2 fishing related 9 (seasonal only)

I have 7 boat related, 3 fishing, 2 woodworking. I hit the 7 boating and 1 fishing Mon thru Fri, the others occasionally. Very rare that I hit any on the weekend, after working with computers and users all week I'm not real interested in turning mine on at home, if I go to it for something else then I will hit a couple forums.

Boat, Auto Racing, and Car Forums for me. About 6 in total that I participate in regularly. But CSR is my number one spot.

I'm amazed at how many are involved with RC? I fly 3D profiles as well and spend quite a bit of time on a dedicated forum. I just wish it didn't interfere with the boating season. Or does the boating season interfere with RC?

I frequent CSR, RV.net (travel trailer), and GreenHulk.net (PWC). All three, in my opinion, top of the line in their respective industries. Like Jim, I hit these places first when thinking about a purchase and/or troubleshooting a problem.

All 3 have awesome professional information, as well as the craziness that comes along with it. I wouldn't have them any other way!

I frequent 2 boating sites, 4 industry sites, 1 car site, couple of other hobby sites but not daily, 1 wristwatch site, couple of video sites now and then. I used to have a whole list but it's just too much. Heck keeping up with this site is a lot of work.

Forums IMO are probably THE most valuable resource out there today. It's the heartbeat of my industry for sure. I moderate 2 (I know, you're thinking "Turtle a$$ moderates forums?") I'm more of a mentor than a moderator, but I can lay down the hammer when needed.

Two or three boating besides CSR and three or four Corvette forums. I usually add links to a favorites folder, e.g Sea Ray 380 or C-5 Corvette.

If I am able to find Adobe documents I download them and put them into similarly named folders, afterwards I copy these folders to another system as a backup as well as the favorites folder.:huh:
