Lime 4X4,
I have basically the same boat, I did a windlass install this year: http://clubsearay.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12550&highlight=bow+pulpit
I have 30' of GR 70 Transport chain (overkill? probably...) 5/16". Spliced to that I have 150' of 1/2" rope. (rode?)
I got the Lewmar V1 when it was on sale this year.
The only "issue" I have is that the rope doesn't lay well in the anchor locker,as it is a bit smallish to accommodate this much rope/chain. I have to have someone (wife, kid, me if I have to...) push the rope/chain forward in the anchor locker when I get about 1/2 way done bringing it in.
Having said that, it is still WAY WAY WAY better than bringing that much in by hand. Easily the best upgrade I did this winter.
Randy.
