This may seem like a silly question but I have noticed many boaters have pictures, plants, and etc in the cabin area, so what is the trick to keep them from getting tossed around when underway? Do you use Velcro?

A better way to do it for your lighter weight items (pictures, etc) is to use a putty like material......Velcro, nails, etc. will/might leave a permenent scar on your boat (think of resale).........I like to say, I can be off the dock in less than 10 minutes if need be......No clutter on this boys boat.....

Well I learned the hard way a couple of years ago.
We were at the lake with our old Bayliner and fishing had slowed down and the boy was wanting to do some tubing and skiing all good and dandy.:smt038
Well i got him going and we were running around and haveing a blast cutting across the wakes and doing circles and such all was fine OR so I thought we shut down and thats when the Admiral surfaced from below deck.:smt013
You would have thought I did the ever all mighty She was a total wreck and of course she took me down below and commenced to show me how everything on the port side which was now on the starboard side and vis-versa got there.
And that it would never happen again if I wanted to live to boat again.:wow:
Thats where we bacame a two Boat family the big Searay for cruiseing and fishing and Then the loud and fast obnoxious Hawaiian Day cruiser for the cut up stuff.
As far as the cabin interior yes she has everything velcro in place or affixed in another means to where it stays in place under normal cruiseing speeds which keeps the Admiral happy and as everyone knows a happy Admiral is a good thing.:smt001

I would think the stuff that affix to the back of credit cards in the mail (the clear sticky stuff) would work great. I will research that and look into it.

Ken, Is that a picture of you? I thought you were a man:)

We use velcro on the plant... Everyelse is cleared off and stowed when we go on trips...

She's why my wife made me give up season tickets to the Saints. :smt013

( I think that's how the joke went )

but whatever she's using to keep the shirt down might work too..

So what you're saying is keep the AC cranked all the way down and that will keep thing in place?

Double sided tape from a hardware store works for us. The glass coffee pot and pillows go into the locker under the bed. Overhead locker and drawer latches to the locked position. We use the rubber nonskid in all drawers and bins.

Looks like some the silcon might have leaked out of her B:grin::grin:Bs and attached the shirt to the skin:smt038 ... Maybe a dab of silcon on the nick nacks might keep things in place?

Stop making fun of my wife! Or was that my girlfriend? I get so confused....

Velcro & duct tape works great on securing the Admiral and the pets.

I found the perfect thing a few years back after a visit to my Mom (she lives on the west coast) there is suck a thing call earthquake tape she uses it on her pictures and such it works great It nothing more than double faced tape but the putty also works well too

You know that rubbery perforated drawer liner stuff they sell in a roll? I cut small pieces to fit and use elmer's glue to hold the pieces to the bottom of whatever I need to keep in place. Lamps and potted fake flowers stay put perfectly - pictures sometimes tip over but do not slide around.

We use a product called museum putty. It is clear sp you don't see it and it holds things in place. Most of our boating is done on the ocean.

Are you implying we boat in the sissy part?

It's true, we don't get all that bounced around, esp b/c my wife only lets me on the ocean when it's dead calm. We have been battered a few times and with this boat, we are CONSTANTLY being overtaken coming out of a no-wake zone by a 1/2 dozen boats, and we all know what those deep accelerating wakes do to the overtaken vessel! These are the occasions where the pictures fall over.

Where do you get the museum putty?

hopefully we have learned our lesson on stuff tossing in the boat. When I went to sell my last boat before the new one showed up, my buddy and I went and took all those valuable things out and placed it in my Suburban. I am in the boat throwing things down to my buddy, and he comes up and said, "Well you should be finished, there is no more room in the truck!" After 2 more loads that I brought home my wife said "What did you go on a spending spree?" I said, "This is all the stuff you and the kids said we needed on the boat." The boat was a 268 DA, now I have a 340 DA.

Moral of this story. Put on the boat only what you truly need, not what you think you need. Before my wife and the kids, the boat only had a duffel bag with all that I truly needed.

Now my wife agrees with this, only what we truly need, not the house and kitchen sink. We will have to see what happens this spring when the new boat is put in the water........... I bet more crap.
