Hole in the Water Club

I just had A/C installed in my 270Sundancer, 10k btu reverse cycle Marine Air Enviro unit and complete kit. Well complete kit is not everything you need for a new install as my mechanic let me know. The most difficult part was running the duct work but I'm happy with the way it turned out. I'll post some pics in a couple of days. This should definitely make me a member of the "Hole in the Water Club", around $3,200.00. Hope it works the way I expect it to.

My "HITW" is treating me absolutely wonderful this year. No issues whatsoever and plenty of fun and fish!

LOL, yeah, I know what you mean. I only said it because of my confidence level with this ole girl. I've pretty much rebuilt every square inch of it, hence my certainty.

Thanks for sharing. Its so wonderful to see you sharing the fun with your kids. I really wish I would have been into boating when my kids were little. Good for you and enjoy the rest of the summer.

and the curse continues....I am thinking the boat gods won't allow me to have a craft that goes both directions

My name is Steve and I also am an addict. Bought our firsdt boat (1987 Wilker Cuddy Cab with 4.3L/Alpha 1) 3 years go and it finally went in the water thus year. I just purchased a 1980 245DA with Merc. 260/SE106. It s going for it's trial run tomorrow. I rewired the whole boat this weekend. Got the new drive installed, changed the impellor, all fluids flushed and new installed and cleaned it up. Over the winter I have to work on all the teak and the previous owner painted it, have to repair the camper top, get sink pump working, find a fridge to installed, find a hot water tank, get an inverter installed and a lot of cleaning. The boat is solid and has a rebuilt motor with 30 hours on it before the drive went. Looks like he never cleaned the outdrive and it sat outside for a year and had to gear oil in it, so it was garbage. Bellows are all good but I am replacing them and gimbal this winter. I will post pictures and make a thread when the restoration starts. I am excited my wife loves this boat and already wants to to start shopping for a 30-34DA :) gotta love it when the wife is onboard.

Well first run with new boat today and it was not bad. I have some things to figure out yet though. Boat went about 27mph @3500rpm. Only way to get on plane was with trim tabs all the way down (thinking I need a smaller prop, mine is a 23p). The batteries were not charging and were dead by time we were stone fishing glad I have ax booster pack, but after the tip back to port the batteries were fully charged. Kinda confusing need to test the altinator. My oil pressure went from 45psi to 15psi on easy home, not sure went, oil is full did not burn any. And to top it off something is leaking. Not big but annoying. After in the water for 4 hours it was not enough to kick the bildge on, I had to do it manually. But all in all was fun. Now time to put other boat in thee shop and get ready for next spring. Going to use my 19ft. For fishing the ret of this year.

27@3500 isn't out of the norm
Tabs down is totally normal
remember these boats are rather ass heavy with people fuel and supplies

Oh yeah ..are you sure you have the correct oil viscosity???
If you have 10w30 in it you wont carry much pressure hot

So, what is everybody doing for Labor Day Weekend?

We have a yacht club cruise to Swantown Marina in Olympia, Washington. I told the Admiral we are pulling out of the slip at 6:00 am Friday. I love being on the water first thing in the morning and I want to take it easy, drink some coffee, maybe have a sweet roll and enjoy the scenery on the way down. Kind of milk as much "cruising time" as I can out of the trip.

I took the first load (towels & stuff) down to the boat, pumped out the head and filled the gas tanks today. Tomorrow will be another load of stuff (beer & booze), Thursday the food, ice and whatever else the Admiral deems necessary. After we got home from Canada she decided to totally unload the boat, clean it up and wash everything that was on it, even stuff we didn't use. Now I get to lug it all back to the boat and what came off as two cart loads will go back on as four cart loads......... do any of you guys have this same problem?

I hope everyone has a great weekend on the water and that the boat gremlins take Labor Day off too

If I switch to a 19 or 21 pitch prop will that help raise my rpm? Max is 3500 and was told 4400 should be wot. The oil was just changed with 40w high syntec deisil. My father owns as trucking company with 19 rigs and trailers. Oil is free for life lol. Found my leak though it is the bellows, wanted to change gimbal anyhow so now I have a reason.

Have a good weekend everyone and boat safe.
