Hole in the Water Club

Do I have a shot at getting into the club?

Bought my boat last year and ran it without issues until this spring. Repairs were limited to leaking taps, blown speakers, and a few lights. Then I found out my leg was gone and wasn't worth rebuilding. Had to wait for a Sierra Alpha 1 replacement to be built at the factory because my ratio was rare (1.5:1). Bellows and such were relaced along with upper and lower exhaust hoses and flappers, risers, and upper and lower control cables. Engine was serviced and bottom cleaned and painted. All to the tune of just over 7 grand.

Of course, after that my kicker went and I'm looking for a replacement.

Was out for three days to Pender Island and discovered my VHF radio quit. Ordered a new one today.

I'd like to get a Standard Horizon 390i but will have to get by with my notebook and Nobeltec this summer.

Whine over.

Spent the entire day getting Old Skool's trailer ready for the relocation trip to Pa. New wheel bearings, tires and rims. Bled the brakes. Rewired the plug and lights to match the Denali plug and pressure washed the boat and the cover.

Went for a ride to check her out and found one of the new rims is bent. Off to the trailer shop tomorrow where I bought the tires to exchange the bent rim.

Made pork chops, scalloped potatoes, and corn for supper for the grand kids and finished with home made strawberry short cake. A littler TV and off to bed. Not a bad day all and all.

Glad ya had a good day Bill
sounds like everything is coming along on the move.

Jim,
Went down to the trailer shop today and they installed a new tire and rim. Rim was OK but the tire didn't seat correctly on the rim.
All is good to go and now waiting for the moving company to do their thing mid July.
Keep you posted.

I pulled the tarp off the canvas cover and found a layer of green slim growing between them. Waited to long into the spring to take it off. Mold grows quick on things here in western NC if it stays the least bit damp.

Anybody have a built in vacuum cleaner?

I am considering putting one in.
Is it worth the extra money or should I just stow a small shop vac?
If you have one, please give me the pro's and con's.

Maybe I am just bored waiting for rain so I can launch.
But, on the other hand if I am not boating I still need to spend to keep my status up in the Hole in the water club.

I have a built in one... absolutely love it... so convenient and stores easily.

Thanks! Just trying to justify $600.00 + compared to maybe $100.00 at tops.
Will it also pick up water?
Do they have bags or cannister for the dirt?
Bob

Mine too has a bag, I never pick up water with mine as it is just a paper bag. Not sure if they make canister types or not?

Maybe another good reason not to spend the extra money. I have a good small Dirt devil that does a good. I was trying to join 2 into one too save space. i would still need the Shop Vac I guess so I really have not accomplished much by adding the built in.
Thanks

This mini shop vac is what you need. It'll do everyting and is small enough to store easily and out of the way.

That's the exact fancy system I have installed in ours too.
You can vacuum water if needed and if it ever stops working; easy fix - toss it and get another.

I too have that shop vac! that's funny. it is hard to beat, plenty of power, stores easy....probably the cheapest thing I've bought for the boat this year. my wife always laughs at our dockmate who bought a handheld rechargable dyson for their boat but all they ever do is ask borrow our shopvac:lol:

The 600 went to gelcoat yesterday
should be done early next week :smt038
