My Kohler guy came out today and determined that the head gasket is blown and that's why my gennie won't run. He's quoting me around 500-600 bucks to change out both. That quote is with me pulling her out and bringing her to him about 60 miles away to his shop. (authorized dealer)
Does this sound about right?
Also he says his shop has a "New" unit that has about 1 hour on it, (mine has the kawasaki engine with 940 hours on her) and they are looking to get rid of that unit. It came out of a customer's boat because one of the technicians pissed the customer off and the customer called Kohler and demanded a new one. The only problem with the new one it had a bad carbon monoxide sensor on it, so they swapped it out at Kohler's request and they still have it. It's a 5ecd
What DO these generators sell for new?
I'm thinking if the deal is good enough, I just might go with the new one that has the "Honda" engine on it, get mine fixed, then turn around and sell my old one.
Alright, let's hear it:smt100
