Plastic cover on gas filter seems to have top cover that clips on to the lower cover. Very little room to move these up or down to get off. Has anyone dealt with these? Just want to remove without damaging so I can replace water separating fuel filter. Thanks.

Well it’s dark and the boat is 12 miles away but yea I hear you. I’ll try tomorrow. Thnx. Looks like the pic in the manual. But they don’t discuss removal.

guess if you click on it pic looks ok. Seems simple in pic but some hoses run across top though these can be pushed around a little but bottom piece has no room to go down but maybe out when you get lid off.

yes seems stubborn but I'll get at it again soon - not the first time overthinking something on this new to me boat. thanks

Are you sure you need to even do anything with it in order to change the filter?
Mine is similar if not the same, and I ultimately got tired of dickin' around with it and ignored it.

The filter threads off and drops down, all that plumbing is connected to the mount and is inconsequential to the the filter removal/replacement (at least in my case).

If you can put a strap type filter wrench on it, just break it loose and then carefully thread it down and off, as it will be full of fuel and will readily spill where you don't want it to.

Make sure the old gasket comes off with the filter and doesn't stay on the mount. Multiple gaskets there will all but guarantee problems (sucking air and/or leaking gas). And lastly, the fuller you can fill the new one without spilling any, the less cranking will be required when you are done.

Thanks. Prob is there is no room under it to bring it down and out from under the cover - looks like can only drop down an inch or less after unscrewing so cover has to come off. We’ll get it ..

It will come off. Basically the top cover has two “wings” on it and once spread the lower cover will drop down a bit. The lower cover can be rotated 90 degrees then twisted out. The back of the cover has a big slot in it so it will slide past the filter without needing to be lowered too much.
Oh, and yes, it needs to be removed to change the filter. It’s really not that hard.

Given these tidbits of information, I will revisit that cover and see if I can get it back the way it was intended to be. I was able to change the filter without completely removing it, although it may well have gone back together easier if it had not been there. Like Dave, I didn't want to break it out of the gate, so fought with it longer than I evidently needed to.

I'm enjoying a cool morning as well Dave, although I have to admit my view is NOT like yours. ;)

My 215 doesn't have the cover. Someone left it off

And you don’t miss it at all right? I can see where it might protect filter from getting bumped (and maybe leaking) when doing anything near it but other than that it doesn’t seem critical. Thanks all

Reminds me? Scott if you have have factory Bimini, do you ever slide the rear frame legs up to next notch in tubes to lower the front of Bimini for any reason? I just discovered these and wondered if it’s just meant to do that or if might help when attaching the front clear vinyl windows on the camper top?

The plastic box around the filter was an early attempt at "cool fuel" - trying to the keep the fuel cool. Over many years working with these setups, I have not found a reason to keep it on other than aesthetics.

The extendable rear bimini legs... extend the legs (make them longer), attach all of the enclosure pieces as far as you can, then forcefully pull down on the legs (make them shorter) to tighten everything up and finish attaching the last part of the side curtains.

No I've never tried that I've always left it the way you see in the picture
