Front Wind Shield Vent Gasket.

I can't remember the exact dimensions of the foam windshield screw cover on my boat (there were two different sizes of foam required for the windshield screw covers on my 1998 370), but I remember that I had to run it through my band saw to rip it down to size. It cut pretty good, not perfect, but the cut edge was completely up inside the channel and you did not see it. For extra watertightness, I also ran a bead of clear silicone caulk inside the channel between the foam and the metal windshield frame. I did this after the foam was installed, and used the tip of the caulk gun to "push" the foam back as I went along. The foam then re-expanded and nicely squeezed the silicone tight between the foam and the metal frame. The silicone is not really visible. Going on 3 years of use and holding up fine. FWIW the TaylorMade p/n for my windshield vent hinge cover was 8229900. If you PM me I will send you a PDF that Taylor provided showing me the part. The hinge cover was installed in about 10 minutes, just snaps right in.

UPDATE:

I misunderstood what people were talking about regarding the center channel. There are in-fact two different sizes for the channel that runs around the bottom of the windshield. The center is smaller. Of course, that's the one I started with so I thought it was all the same size. After discussing with SR, I found out the side channels are in fact different and 1.25". So the McMaster Carr P/N 8694k153 will work in all but the center windshield. I would guess that 1" x .5" would work for the center.

Just back froma three day run, I was planning on doing all this foam; gasket thing tomorrow. Now my aft head is on the blink so my dinky little gasket problems will have towait. :smt009

Hello,
By chance do you still any data on the power window vent gaskets?
Thanks
Greg

The gasket that goes in the bottom and two sides of the 1998 370 DA front vent window is a TaylorMade Part Number 835200. I was lucky enough to get enough from a Club Sea Ray member who had extra to do my front window last year.

Does Tylormade still stock this gasket, is it the same from my power center vent on 2003 320 DA?

If you PM me an email address, i will forward an email from TaylorMade that had the Taylor drawing for the vent window gasket on the 1998 370DA. It also included cost and contact info for Taylor. I would suggest you pull your gasket and compare it to what is on the drawing before you order any. On mine, the gasket was a friction fit (not glued) so you can pull it out a bit, take measurements and then put it back in.

I ordered a closed cell foam sheet from mcmaster-carr, made a template of the opening, and cut my own with a surgical scalpel for my 320. Scalpels are much sharper than razor blades. Turned out perfect and makes a much nicer seal at a fraction of what taylor made will charge you.

Do you have any pics of the foam and the final install. Thanks.
