Ran north past Point Lookout and started trolling in the 50fow slot in front of Whitestone Point. Marked fish all over the place. No pockets of bait, just hooks. Water was muddy, 2ft visibility and 58 degrees.

Made it to the shipping channel bouy straight out from the Singing bridge when we popped our first walleye on a green plug down 28 on the rigger. Looked up and 2 of the inlines headed back with fish on white deep diving plugs back 65. Landed one of the two. After a few more passes, that area still showed fish, but nothing would hit. Looking for clearer water, we moved out to a drop off just north of Big Charity Island where we banged a king in the 8lb range on a green/black spoon down 28 over 40 ft.

Beautiful sunny day on Lake Huron!

What I wouldn't give for a nice, fresh caught Lake Huron Walleye! That's about as good as fish dinners get. Thanks for the pics and the writeup.

When you boat around Point Lookout have you seen the cottage that's built like an old passenger steamer? We used to have a cottage on the Saginaw Bay side of Point Lookout, and my brother now has a cottage on the Lake Huron side of the Point, just 4-5 cottages down from the old "boat cottage".

If ya want some fun with the kids while you're out there, anchor near the lighthouse that's off Point Lookout, climb the ladder and jump off the top. It's about a 15'-20' drop and kinda takes your breath away. Oh, and keep your legs together when you jump...you'll know why you should have done that if you don't.

Big Charity Island is a great place to explore. You probably know it, but there's a nice harbor on the north side where you can anchor and wade to shore. The old lighthouse on the island is a great place to climb up into and look out. The view is spectacular.

Thanks for the info GFC! Been fishing up that way since I was a kid and I think I know which cottage is your brothers. We've caught lots of brown trout, salmon and walleyes right in front of it!

Thanks for the info on the Gravely Shoals light. I've driven up to it, but never got out and climbed up. That would be kinda weird, but I may just have to do it sometime.

The last time I was at the harbor at the north end of the big island, it was just after they built it. It sounds like they never did much with it and that's a shame. It's a beautiful island and very peaceful out there.

Yeah, someone had big plans for the harbor on Big Charity. It's been several years since I was out there, but even back then everything had come to a halt, and that was before the recession we are in.

When I was a teenager one of my friends climbed to the top of the Gravely Shoals lighthouse and dived off. He only cleared the main deck on the way down by about 2', so he came real close to biting the big one that night. Of course, we'd all had a few "adult beverages" so it wasn't until a couple of days later that it really hit home how close it was. They've since remodeled the deck so you can't get into it any more.

My bro's cottage is a two story yellow cottage with white trim and a big deck out front. I usually end up back there for a week or so every summer to sponge off them. This year they're headed out here (next week) and we're going to take them on a boat trip up the Snake River. I'm not sure how long our trip will be but it will at least be an overnighter.

U guys are killing me!! This is a fishin report thread, not a "remember when" thread!! We fishing for Walleye or memories!?!?:smt043

Anyway, GREAT night out on the boat again! Didn't fish, still looking to get the rod-holders mounted, but a nice evening out on the Bay none the less.

I'll be looking forward to the fishing reports here to know what to expect and where to go get it! Can't wait for cold beverages and fresh Walleye while dockside!!:smt038

I think they have a boat ride / dinner cruise that goes to charity now .You take the boat out and eat at the lighthouse keepers place then take the boat back in .Cannot remember where it leaves from though.Oh the fishing report ,my dock neighbor was in a tournament saturday ,got 9th place with one walley they claim they didnt step on to keep it.There were 10 boats in the tournament.

Trips down memory lane....fishing...good times.....That's what it's all about!!

I'll keep giving fishing reports as long as you guys like reading them. With the kids and family activities, fishing reports are fewer and farther between than they used to be. There was a time when all of my free time was spent on the boat chasing fish tales. Now I'm lucky to get a day between family activities, but it's all good. Makes the trips we do get more memorable and appreciated.

Glenn, I think you are right, I've read where you can take a cruise out to the island for dinner. I wonder how the restaurant works and what the hours are...

Sounds like we should have gotten in the walleye tourney. May have taken 1st place with our two fish ...

Absolutely! That's why I bought this boat in the first place! I took my dad on a salmon charter last summer and after added it up and said to myself " how many $1,000 trips do Ihave to take him on before I buy my own". Turns out not many. especially once he started talking annual trips and marlins LMAO!!!

Fishing, good times, and that's basically my memory lane of boating! Probably has a lot to do with the era of boat I chose as well, and the time frame I'm stuck in as far as boat models I would like to move up to ('85-89/90). Love those "classic" lines! I wouldn't trade the 'NAUTI RAGAZZA' for a new 310! Love her and everything she stands for! Past, present, and a long future to come!!!

The winners had five walleye.Unfortunately one of them slipped and fell when taking the boat out of the water and was bleeding badly from the head when the ambulance took him away.

There's three of us dedicated 'bayers on CSR, I say we find a couple more and have our own 'lil Walleye tourney! Give me a chance to finish setting up the boat and "test the waters" a time or two (I don't even have the rod holders mounted yet :smt089) andwecan have our own private little tourney!

**Getaway has to take a handi cap though as he's basically an undeclared pro!**

A private little tourney sounds fun. How about weigh-in at Hooters:wink:.

No pro here, I just love to fish!!

Sounds like a good day on the water to me.I will see if any of the searay guys and gals at sunset shores want to participate.Mabey a flier at a few marinas and west marine.I think this may be a good way to promote csr also and boost the 3 bayer club up a bit.Thoughts?

I'm game! Fairly certain I'm headed up tomorrow to mount rod holders and get out and fish for a little if the weather cooperates. I'll be sure to let you guys know if and how we do.

NADA, nothing, zip, zero, zilch. Didn't even mark anything on the finder! Caught a bunch of weeds and other trash though:( Seems as though with the rivers flowing so much lately there is a lot of stuff floating around including logs and weeds.

A buddy of mine was out all day today too, he's a pretty good fisherman too. He took home 0 fish too so don't feel bad. You can't catch what aint there or won't hit!

What are your marinas looking like? We were talking about letting other know about our CSR tourney and I looked around today and there's only 12-15 boats in the water at Lindy's. Considering there's 81 slips there I'm a little shocked that so few are in. What are you guys seeing at your marinas?

Roughly speaking, it looks like the marina's are down 40-50% at least right now. As the end of June nears, Liberty Harbor is full as people get slips for the 4 weeks around the 4th, river roar and pig gig.

Sad, very sad. A sign of the times or is boating a dying industry . I grew up with this stuff, actually the more I think about it and look back the more things I do in remeberance of my childhood. Who'd have ever thought "they" were right when "they" said those would be the best days of my life! Oh well, I used to know it all, but it seems as though I have forgotten it all in the last 10 years :smt101:lol::smt043:smt043:lol:!!! I'mthinking about getting a younger woman and a sports car; do you think I'm too young for a mid-life crisis:wow::smt100:smt101

Never too young for a mid-life crisis...LOL!

I stand semi-corrected. We launched at Vets Park in Bay City around 11:30am yesterday morning. What a beautiful day on the water!

I've never seen that many boats on the river and in the bay in my life.:smt101

Holy crap, It was a solid line of boats going up and down that river and boaters beach was just loaded with boats of all sizes. I was truly amazed. Apparently it's going to take more than high gas prices to keep us down.:smt038
