Fishing report- Northern Saginaw Bay area

Getaway ,did you drive past the putt putt on midland street after you went out yesterday?I think i saw you towing home around 7;30 or something,i was getting ice cream .You dont have your name on the boat yet do you?I also thought you were docking at wheelers this season ,are you? And for acb We took a ride to lindys yesterday also and i looked at the nauti raggazza ,looks good ,but who painted the starboard side bottom paint ?Thats a hoot! And we are begining to fill our slips at sunset shores, apperantly bcyc has raised its membership fees so a lot of new slip renters from here this year. Some have not splashed yet because of the debris and bad weather but will make appearances soon i am sure.I have not seen any other searay owners personally except a dock neihbor and i dont think he fishes from his 380.Glen

by the way Banagy is a sagy bay searay dude also he is in bayport during the summer but was talking about coming to baycity this year for a trip .I think he trailers so that would be easy for him to get in on the action.Hello Banagy are you there dude?

That was me Glenn! We left the boat in at Liberty Harbor overnight. Wanted to sleep on her, but it was just too darn hot. Gave up about 11pm Monday night and went home. Now I'm looking at air conditioners:grin: .

I don't put in at Wheelers until June 11 and we are only staying until July 18th. Too many tourneys and fishing trips so I stay on the trailer in the spring and August/Sept.

I need to get the name on it. Right now it's on the cooler and sometimes I put the cooler out on the swim platform. Right now the cooler makes for extra seating. Trying to decide on the color of the name. The old name was gold and I may just stick with that.

Did you happen to see my tube laying along the street anywhere? I had it strapped to the bow and the damn thing blew off on the way home:smt013. By the time I got everything turned around, someone must have grabbed it. The kids won't be happy. They loved that thing.

That sucks,I have one i havent ever used i will sell you.It came with our bayliner, and were just too old for that and we have no kids around here to pull anyways.

Sent a pm to Banagy about fishin'

fishing has been very, very slow around Bay Port. No action off of North Island or the slot. Just to let you know the light house on the big island has been rebuilt to original plans by private owners. It has a bright red metal roof on that you can see for miles. Dinner cruises are offered from Tawas and Caseville.

Why whatever do you mean?:smt043:smt043:lol: The P O had the boot stripe raised as well as the bottome paint :smt017 It may have something to do with the waves splashing up the side with the river current? (so that really means I haveno clue why). I've seen it done before to hide the fact that the transom is wet and the rear is heavy and you don't notice that the stripe is in/under the water, but that's not the case here, just rediculous high for whatever reason. Thanks for the nice comments though!:smt038

I trailer my boat the cottage to the boat ramp to the boat launch at Bay Port and rum to Bay City. It is going to be interesting with the dredge equipment the the channel this summer, may have to go to Bay Shore Marina.

Thats a nice marina ,the owners seem really nice and so did the few boaters we talked to there.Ive heard a few positive fish reports from capts. So here we go i hope .we took a nice ride today just to relax it was great docked three times and didnt bash any logs in the river or the bay.

Does this mean that the trash, logs, and other junk is finally gone?! I couldn't make it up this weekend :smt089. Maybe a day or two this week I hope . I'm smack dab the middle of remodeling the house and a few other issues that I hope to have resolved soon. The sad news is that it may take a couple of weeks before I can get there again. The GREAT news is that if it does take a couple weeks it looks like I will be bringing my babies with me!!!!!:smt038:smt038:smt038:smt038:smt038!!!!!!!!:smt038:smt038:smt038!!!!! They loved the old boat and were so excited for the new one, I can't wait for them to see it! I so planned on teaching them to fish this summer! I took my daughter last fall and she loved it. I can't wait until she can haul in an 'eye'. Hopefully the fishing turns around just as everything else has for me so I can do that for them! Keep me posted guys, appreciate it all:smt001

Still a bunch of trash in the water but it is better than a week ago.I thought you had custody of the young un's,hope it works out for you i have been in similar situation myself and it can be demanding and draining.

Still some junk in the bay. We fished Harbor Beach this past Saturday and landed 6 lakers and 2 salmon. Lost a dandy king in the mid-high teens:smt089.

Great day on the water but weird weather on Saturday.

My buds all pounded walleyes on the Bay Saturday and Sunday. Lots of dinks, but keepers are mixed in. Spoons in all colors were working, harnesses in orange were good.

Most fish are west of the channel in 14-19 fow near the spark plug.

Time to go get-up!!!

I do have custody, let's just say it's complicated and has been a rough last couple of months. On a good note things seem to be turning around, even the fishing which is great!

Melcome Marine started to dredge the Bay Port Harbor on Wednesday, June 8, 2011. Looks like it will take most of the summer to dredge the one and one half miles.

Will that keep you off the water Bill? They are supposed to start dredgeing out channel this week but not sure if they will start at the bcyc south basin first t,the entrance to the north basin or the north basin of sunset shores first.I dont think it will take them long and they are going to try and leave it navigable during the process. We leave for vacation friday after this and are going some where on the boat not sure where yet start at tawas i think then?Any way you searay sagy bay guys will soon notice a change in my info as the bayliner was sold and delivered saturday woohoo!!!Our internet still is in the glich stage at the marina also so i cannot keep up on the weekends yet, next weekend is a limbo for me garage sale at home yuck.when are we gonna fish?

I have not seen those rod holder thingies before. Do you mind explaining what the heck they are all about? Maybe a close up photo or two of one of them? Looks like they are hooked up to power too?

Our rod holders are basically a piece of plumbing tube mounted on a riser or embedded into the side walls.

They are called downriggers ,A steel line with a weight(cannonball)is lowered into the water and the depth is set using a counter. You attach your line or lines to the cable with a clip or rubberband and a clip after letting out a predetermined amount of line(guess at best)with the lure on it.You can run a few lines on each cable(stacking) and it depends on how many people you have on board as to how many lines you can run at once. When you catch a fish the clip pops off the cable and basically sets the hook for you when the line goes tight again. The electric version saves a lot of time as you will have to pull it in to reattach a replacement line after a fish hits .Look for big jon brand or riviera .

Thanks for the explanation, do you have any idea what the brand is of the ones in the photo above are? They look pretty heavy duty compared to the Big Jon and Riviera brands.

It's been 2 weeks :smt089:smt089!!! But finally headed up to the Nauti Ragazza :smt038:smt038!!! Hope to see some of you great fellow CSR Members on the Bay today! And I'll post a report later and let 'ya know how it goes.
