Face Shields..

The rationale for adding face shields is to protect your eyes. You can contract any germ, microbe or virus through the mucus membrane of your eyes. You don't need a face shield to protect your eyes, eye glasses suffice.

But then again you have to believe this virus is flying around landing on peoples eyes.

I don't get the point of face shields. If you are in front of someone spitting blood (like ebola), i can understand. But airborn micro droplets from a sneeze? No way a shield can stop the micro droplets. I do believe a mask has some efffectivness, even if not 100% and you can argue the percentage (I believe it is not zero or medical staff in COVID units would all be mask-less) I know that El Capitan does not believe that.
 
If masks work, then why do we need to physically distance? If physical distancing works, then why do we need masks? A face shield is only useful for someone who is in very close proximity to someone who is symptomatic. That's it. For the rest of the world to walk around wearing face masks and shields is asinine.

In my current profession, I am fortunate to be very close to science and I can tell you that what is being spewed to the public is complete garbage. In basic virology, the largest factor to contracting a respiratory virus is time. You have to be in close proximity of someone who is contagious for a considerable amount of time ~15 min to contract enough of the virus (unless they are sneezing or coughing directly on you). Masks are actually a good idea for people who are sick. People who aren't, are more likely to get sick from wearing a mask. Considering you're exhaling CO2 which is warm and moist coming out of your lungs and mouth into a trap, you're essentially creating a wonderful environment for bacteria to thrive. People who are sick and wearing N95 masks are just sending out a concentrated stream of droplets into the air thanks to that one-way valve. o_O

Northwestern University conducted a study (and there are others) that have correlated Vitamin D deficiency with severe symptoms and mortality with COVID-19. Nowhere is that being talked about in the mainstream media and now a state (Ohio) has banned pharmacies from dispensing a drug (hydroxycloroquine) that has been shown to be effective against the virus.

It is not hard to come to the conclusion that there are some politicians who are far more interested in seeing the demise of the President than they are truly serving their constituents. Perhaps even more shocking is that many of those constituents don't recognize or acknowledge that fact - and sometimes echo it. It's kind of like having someone on our boats with us that is trying to do everything to ensure we crash and sink - and everyone goes down with the boat. How anyone can make logical sense of that is beyond me.

Nope. You be skeptical of everything you're told by the media. Don't fall for their characterizations. For example, the radio told me today that the Dow "tumbled" while it's down about 200 pts., less than 1 freaking pct. That's hardly a tumble -- that fkg noise. So instead of taking the "news" report as gospel, I opened up my phone and checked the dow and told the lady on the radio she was a $%$%#^#%. When the media has to make up terms like "mostly peaceful" (whatever that is supposed to mean) to describe protests turned to riots, you know you being misinformed. Just verify everything with the source instead of falling for the media characterization of it. I always use this clip from years ago to make my point

I agree 100%. Never believe things blindly. Always consider the source and seek alternative views/reports on the same issue. And never assume that there is one "right" answer to complex problems. The problems that do not have one "right" answer are the ones that will be closer to 50/50 in views.

That's why compromise and finding common ground is the ONLY way to find agreeable (but not perfect for either side) solutions to the complex issues. There seem to be some people that think that domination of the other side is the way to achieve their goals and views. That you have to 100% "win" in order not to 100% "lose". That is when nothing happens that is good for either side of the view.

I saw some posts earlier (may have been on another forum) about making sure that you have your guns ready if the democrats win. That is truly frightening.

I was talking with some friends the other day (democrats...yes I have democrat friends) and I asked them what they thought about the Obama/FBI spying stuff going on. They honestly had no idea about any of it. No clue and they thought I was making it up. The reason is that they religiously watch ABC news every night and read the newspaper. Imagine that a story like that is out there and there are thousands of people (probably millions) who don't even know about it because it doesn't get reported. But Trump retweets a story and they spend 20 minutes every night for a week on it. This is really sad that all of the media is so biased that their TDS completely blows their credibility. Jonathan Karl has so much contempt for Trump that he literally spits and drools when he's talking about him.

Right, years ago that would be the scandal of all scandals -- "Current administration spies on opponent's campaign." Think about that for a second. How third world government can you get? Yet, not even a peep from the media.

Why is that frightening? It's a known fact that they are coming to get our guns. Beto admitted it. The prosecutor in St. Louis just did it. At the same time, they are letting "protesters" riot and loot in the streets. As we speak, there are government entities issuing orders which prohibit police from using non-lethal means (ie; tear gas and such) to control angry mobs. They are taking away the police's ability to defend the public and encouraging the mob to keep going. If the police can't protect the people, who can? There is a reason gun applications are up. Even my wife, who has never touched a gun in her life has suggested she should get her card.

I am NOT talking about protecting yourselves or your families from fake protesters or anarchists that tag along to "peaceful" protests. On that front, believe it or not, I have a firm view that if a peaceful protest becomes violent it should be shut down. I am talking about threats of use of force against a properly elected government.
