Eye surgery went very wrong

Before surgery in the preparation area the nurse (not sure if she is a nurse or not) gave me instructions including to not talk.

At first I was almost asleep. As the procedure went on and on, way longer than expected, the sedation seemed to wear off and I became more conscious and could hear everything.

Lying on the recliner chair/table during the procedure I could tell it was going worse and worse. The doctor would swear “****” and “damit, ” etc. Hearing that as my head was taped down tight not knowing what was going on and not able to ask was terrible torture.

After getting home I was expecting a call this afternoon with a appointment set for a retina specialists. No call came. It’s now after 5PM local time so I called them only go get voice mail.

I don’t think I will be sleeping at all tonight.

You need to write down on paper EVERYTHING you remember and date it... and then call an attorney...

Gary is 100% correct in what he said. Write it all down, date it and call a lawyer. The Dr did not want to take time to open the pack of correct sutures along with other things you have said.

and get to an emergency eye center asap

Good luck Pres.

WOW Pres, :wow:. And I thought I had bad Juju.

Sorry to hear this, I'm sure you're pretty worked up. You need to get the details down on paper as mentioned and try to stay calm and positive. Everything will turn out ok.

Good luck with everything. Write down what you can remember right now. Tomorrow take another fresh paper and writer everything you can remember. Take a couple of days and take a fresh piece of paper write down everything you can remember. Then review all and combine into one paper.

That is what was told to my mother when she got hurt on the job and went to an attorney. I think it is good advice since every time you write it down other items come back to you. Good luck!

Brutal! Just prayin' that things will only get better from now on for you. It may be time for a 2nd opinion asap.

Pres,

Hoping the best for you and hope that after all is over you have a full recovery.
If you don't feel too comfortable head west to the Clinic across the Mississippi. They may be able to help. They have helped me many times, including my eyes and my hands.

Wow! I'm glad I had my LASIK before reading this.

Good luck and God Bless.

Please seek emergency assistance. Start calling friends and family for a referral.

An idea might be (tonight) to go to a regular old emergency room, if you can't sleep, just to have them look at it and get more input about what risk you are running. Better than lying awake ( I know!) Good for the documentation of it also, if you need to sue the guy.

VERY sorry to hear of your situation. The right doc can make all the difference in the world. Find recommendations, and / or just get in front of other docs, and your intuition will probably help you find the right one. The legal part will come later.

Been there once, less severe issue than yours. There is hope and there are some great docs out there.

Everyone is pulling for you.
