Express vs Sedan Bridge

Gary-
Let's not confuse the sporty crowd with "knots". Everyone knows "miles per hour" is sportier. So let's refer to blasting by 'dancers at 30 miles per hour. That might translate better.

30 miles per hour it is...

Let's see a sporty Sundancer do 30 miles per hour for 10 hours straight.

As per usual - since political correctness be damned - ALL of you are wrong. The correct answer is Express BRIDGE, i.e., EB for you accronym folks. You get the "express" and "bridge" all in one boat. The trick is finding one of these rare and wonderful vessels.

Express Bridge? Isn't that the v-drive bridge boat? That's like gluing a bridge on a Sundancer. Real boats have straight drive shafts. Girly boats have their shafts bent over.

Really... Mr. Frank H. cruises around at something like 18 knots... whoa baby! Hold on to your seats!

I'll have you know that my boat sustained speeds well above 30 knots for many many hours...of course, that was when it was on the truck bring her up from Florida!

........ I think the bridge is less stressful. ...

When you get to the age where you are concerned about the 'stress of boating', then by all means....a bridge boat is the right boat for you....

........The engine noise is less ...

Again, when you are old enough to own a bridge boat, you will 'think' the engine noise is less....the reality is, you just won't be able to hear it....unless of course, you turn up your hearing aide.

........you won't get soaking wet from spray in rougher water......

A little water gonna hurt you......waaaaaaahhh!!!!!

........I will admit I like the looks of Nordhavns also...

Oh...anda I see you tried to hide this obscure little sniglet.....talk about 'trawling'......who-ya!

I really want a bridge boat......waaaahh!!!!!

Honey - make some popcorn...this is getting good.

Seriously - We're leaving for Italy for a week - I'll miss you guys - and I see I'll have a lot of catching up to do when I get back!

And Gary - that is a great side shot pic of your boat!

"Generally speaking good looking young folks run express cruisers while the geriatric crowd runs the sedans"

I would disagree.......With my 40 Sundancer I use to wear Slacks and Trousers to work and Trunks swimming.......Now with the sedan bridge I wear pants to work and a thong or bikini swimming.

Now this has me scared! I was leaning toward the SB until the whole "Thong" thing came out! :smt119 I'm leaving the real response up to Gary on this one....

Told the Wife To Be she might have to drive a Mini Van if we switched boats and boy did I get the Stink Eye on that comment!

You're damn right the flames will begin.

Sporty? SPORTY?! Oh COME ON! Sporty like that dinghy tie wrapped to the foredeck on your boat?!

This is like saying a Ford Pinto is "sporty" because it's a two door and has taped-on racing stripes and so is much better than that four-door Mercedes S-Class. This is sporty:

I'll tell you what's "sporty"... when my "mini-van" bridge boat with over 1300HP of sweet diesel torque blows buy (at 26 knots cruise) those ass-heavy-nose-in-air express boats on the open water and I get to watch them bury their nose:

Sporty... Maybe if I lean my antennas back at an angle I can look more "sporty"

On the serious side, if you do longer runs, I think the bridge is less stressful. The engine noise is less and you won't get soaking wet from spray in rougher water...

ya - i should have known better. That is a good looking boat, kind of like those old big cadillacs that my grandfather used to drive. Nice. Good shot on the dinghy, I should change that pic. I think if anyone is serious about cruising then a SB would be the way to go. It really depends on how the boat will be used, but everyone on this board knows that. Dave - Good luck on the adventure. If nothing else you can spend lots of time looking at boats, and that is time well spent.

All right already. True, the sundancer (if long enough ) can look kinda sexy...

But, an aft cabin motor yacht means that you are actually having sex in that nice big cabin.
Therefore there is no need to worry about making a lot of ruckus, as no one will be able to hear you!
Hearing aids on or off! :smt038

Of course, when you're in your 30's and you've got all those little kids crawling all over you....
you get no sex anyway, so you might as well take the sedan or a sundancer so that you can at least "feel" sexy.

And truth be told, with all those kids, you probably are gonna have to have a mini-van anyway, so you might as well have a sexy boat!

No old farts on this Aft Cabin... Sooner or later there will be a 480 Sedan taking its place though..

I went through this dilemma of choice a couple of years ago when I was trying to narrow it down between the following two boats in the thread below.

Choices: 460DA vs 480DB - Club Sea Ray

We really loved the Sedan Bridge; I think the lines of the 480DB are about the nicest in the Sea Ray collection. It ended up that we couldn't stretch the budget for a Cummins equipped 480DB at the time and as it turns out it's just my wife and I aboard most of the time anyways. Adding the camper with full Statglas and adding reverse heat/A.C. to the cockpit turns that cockpit into our main living area.

I agree with the "cave" comments about the 'Dancer but the light maple interior really opens it up visually.

The DB really is a good performer and three 560DB came available in and near our marina this year. Maybe??? Well, one of the owners told me of that great MAN diesel cruise performance at only 80 gph. I decided to keep my nice 460DA which burns close to one third of that.

Just my opinion.

Jaws, I would sure like to see some pictures of your camper canvas set up. Even if you have to PM me and obtain an email address.

Thanks

OK - actually this one makes sense. That is VERY valid point. Dave consider this in your decision. Sleeping in a Dancer with kids is not private enough for 'intimate relations'. My kids are 9 and 12.

Hooboy, wait 'till I show the wife this one...I may be able get away with calling her "old", but not "old fart'...guess it's a good thing my big head is blocking most of her face.
