Did I bend my props?

SORRY JOE,
Wheres the boat now????

sorry to hear about your luck, hope it is not too bad.. after what I went thru last year with the insurance company after a drunk boater hit my boat I would try to keep your insurance company out of it if at all possible. Was it rock or sand that you went aground on?

Bill, the boats in her slip and getting hauled out tomorrow we made it home no problem just had to take it easy everytime i tried to get up on plane she vibrated so i crawled home. we kind of slid into the sand it was very quiet and a long slide thats how i can describe it !:smt089

Sorry to hear about your grounding and hope it turns out to be minimal damage. I do like where we are since our slip has 18' under it and that's the shallowest I see except for the fuel and pumpout dock at the municipal marina. No tide, no bar to cross, and no need for channel markers!

Joe, don't sweat it man, that's what we pay insurance for. I just got splashed this past Friday from a month long furlow getting New Struts, rebalanced shafts, and reworked props. Also a bottom job was recommended and taken up on. All at a cost of $7100.00 that my insurance company took care of minus the deductible of $500.

You might have bent one or both of the props. You probably will be able to get them reworked. Good luck dude:thumbsup:

When I hit a log and messed up a prop - the vibration was unbelievable. I had to idle back. Here's hoping for an inexpensive repair.

In my area this weekend a 51' Sundancer hit a rock dike and ripped out the bottom, struts & rudders - the motors were used as bilge pumps after they removed the hoses from the strainers. When they used the travel lift on the boat - the boat had a 5' waterfall coming out of the bottom. If you boat in areas that shoal - you will kiss the bottom at some point. Thanks for sharing your story. Hope everything ends up fine.

Kreole kid, i've been following your story and its what i thought of when we hit and i could think of was the damage(after checking the family of course0 and thinking oooohhhhh @#$$%#%$ , anyway thanks guys for caring ,

Joe... I'm really sorry to hear that. We had such an awesome day, what a way to end it. I'm crossing my fingers for you that the damage is minimal. We all kiss bottom sooner or later. I had the b@lls to admit it when i did it.

Don't sweat the guy who thinks he knows everything. Boating in the GSB is challenging at best.

Joe, as long as your family / passengers are safe, that's all that matters. The rest can be replaced.

Hey Joe,
Sorry to hear how your day ended. That just sucks!!! Don't worry, you are not alone. I have hit the bottom many times in that darn bay!!!! Sometimes the markers are deceiving or unlit when travelling @ night. I had several problems over the years with my old boat that did not have GPS or radar. Hang in there man, it's always darkest before the dawn....... I assume you wont be @ Watch hill this weekend......:smt021 Sorry man I couldn't resist. Good luck with the haul!!!! Todd

hey Todd, thanks for the thoughts how did your trip go? have any good stories or pics?

Joe, did you find out how bad it is yet? I'm hoping that it was just a prop.
At least you hit something you couldn't see, I hit the bridge which was in plain sight...

Yeh but you were relying on information from "the architect"

Joe - tough break on the grounding. We are all pulling for low $ repair, and a quick recovery. If your not in this weekend, your welcome aboard a slightly shorter 280

JOE,
When do you get an answer as to damage..????

Hey Joe,
Yeah the trip was cool, thanks for asking. I flew into Norfolk, VA about 2:00 pm sunday (with about 3 hours sleep under my belt

). We headed out monday 7:00 am. Got to Ocean City about 1:00 pm. Hang out and had a couple cold ones. Checked out a place called Secrets Mon night and after mocking the drunks upon arrival we quickly joined them  !!! Spent the better part of Tuesday recovering & had a great dinner @ the Sunset grill in the marina, real good food. Headed out 7:00 am Wednesday and arrived in Forked River about 12:30 pm. Got my rental car and drove home! I made good time until the Belt Parkway. After that I sat in rush hour traffic for 4 hours in what should have been a 1 1/2 hour ride. I have some pics and will post later if any are good. Sorry nothing from Secrets, left my phone on the boat! Gotta say, we got 2 excellent travel days with the exception of some fog the second day. Calm seas & a mild sw wind. That 41 dancer runs nice out in the open water! Hey man, any update on your damage? I've got my fingers crossed.... Todd
