Complete Bridge Sound System Upgrade to Concert Sound Status!!!!!!!!!!!!

The word Suck doesn't even come close, and Well Yes the tape was still holding strong, I had to cut it all with a razor blade...But Damn... Why put an adjustable Amp, where you cannot reach to make any adjustments....I don't get it??And to NOT even Amp up the SUB..!!!!!Holy Crap, there's so much to make right on this boat, Don't get me wrong...It's great and it's the nicest boats I've ever seen, but it's going to be a task just making things operate right, like now each speaker is it's own channel....Yeah....

I am concerned with a couple things here. First is you state you cannot get to the adjustments. If you have changed the wire configuration you no doubt need to change adjustments. The amp is multi channel, has x-overs built in, x-over adjustments, switching for mode (2,3,4 channel), gain controls. Second you state the Sub not amped . . . what does that mean. Most of the Sea Ray factory installs have one sub connected bridged to two channels of factory installed amp. You never mentioned your sub did not work but you did mention adding a second sub.

I was on two Sea Rays this week at Lake Ozarks. On both intsalls I was able to see amps yet needed a mirror to see the switching and adjustments. As long as you can sneak your hand and a screw driver bit you can make all the adjustments.

BTW . . . one system was factory\original and the other was "professionally" installed. A few minutes of sorting and a few minutes of adjustments we were able to do a major tune up that included maximizing all full range speakers first and then dialing in sub(s).
Here is detail on what I do: http://clubsearay.com/showthread.php/40568-Maximizing-Your-Multi-Amp-amp-Sub-Sound-System

I ran with three pair of JL M770 components and one pair of M770 coaxials fed via two JL 4ch amps with a JL monoblock for the sub in my cockpit and couldn't be happier. My goal was to fill the area with sound so I didn't have to over crack it, but it will get stupid if needed. I put two pair of components in the arch and placed one set of tweeters slightly above and behind the captains seat so i can enjoy the tunes while driving too. The mid-base has great punch. Lots of options out there at many price levels. This is one of the fun jobs!

OK Well Returned to the boat this weekend and set to find out what the wiring was all about, didn't have much time, but I cut some wires that seemed to be the Cockpit speakers down below.... NOT, they were the Bridge speaker wires... I though how can this be, I've already run these speakers from the Amp....So I'm taring the whole thing apart next weekend, every wire every terminal and even the head unit, this this is wired so Funky Nothing makes sense at all....So It's got to be done right... SO I'm going to be busy next weekend......

Now I'm just thinking about speaker placement, and sound quality, I'm going to re-install the 10" sub that I took out for a 2 Sub sound and over 8 speakers..

HIFI...saw this post about being at Lake of the Ozarks....I am a little over an hour from there. Do you do installs for a living?

Jeff, I do not install or sell. I was in the business for two decades and it is a Hobby of mine for many decades. There is likely someone good in your area but I have no recommendation.

Isn't Waves and Wheels on the Ozarks?
Don't know them but it looks like they have a good handle on it.
Also, see if anyone knows of a guy that used to do mobile/marine electronics on the Ozarks and does a great bit of home electronics named Todd the Entertainer. This guy was way beyond good. Hope that helps.

David....Waves and Wheels is located at Lake of the Ozarks. You may be referring to this company....http://www.theentertainer.biz. They are located in Jefferson City, which ins't too far from Lake of the Ozarks. They were recently down at our marina, doing an installation on a brand new 63' Viking Sport Cruiser. They were there for the better part of a week, and I imagine, they spend more on their lighting and AV upgrades, that my boat cost.

That is definitely the company that I was referring to as their methodology is unmistakable. Many more layers of knowledge than meets the eye.

Check out Waves and Wheels, they have some awesome Custom installs and Speaker Pods, I'm buying two 8 speaker pods for the bridge this winter, these guys are great...But there's an Issue, in the front of the bridge when I pulll up the EZ2CY and snap it, the speakers will be in the way...and covered up...Hmm must re-think this installation issue.

Hey Robert....are going to install the speaker pods yourself? Have you checked prices on those pods? I think I have looked at most of the pictures on their website.....they do some crazy cool stuff.

Waves and Wheels did a complete install on a friend's Carver 540. Their work, as well as the Focal speakers they used are top of the line. They are expensive, but if you want the best, call them.

I have them on my fav's list and I'm on that site almost every night....almost. I didn't order the pods, man Loaded with speakers, they were 2300.00 each.... Imagine that, plus I cannot put my EZ2CY glass up and snap it to the ceiling, Pods would get in the way...Although I'm still looking for way to get them into the whole scheme of things....

So Far 10 7.7 component speaker JL Audio
2 10" JL audio Subs.
New CDM6 clarion... arrived today..
and four AmpI'm also installing a new zone for the Cockpit/Patio it's getting new 7.7 and 10" JL Audio Sub..

Dont quite know what to do about this speaker in the Admirals Ear, What the Hell was Sea Ray thinking when they put a speaker at ear level 9's away from her ear...

That is an unfortunate and all too common scenerio with speakers high on the arch. There are a couple of routine approaches to partially address this.
In a multi-speaker cockpit system with other speakers mounted low have a pair of dedicated amplifier channels to the speakers high on the arch in order to gain them independently down to an ambient level or within balance of the other lower speakers. You could also run a multi-tap transformer adjustable passive level control (Niles, etc.) on just the arch speakers to bring them into balance with the lower speakers. The identical device as used throughout homes. Its also not a bad idea to run those higher speakers in summed mono since the only speaker recognized is the one closest to you.
If its a more moderate system without the number of speakers and number of amplifier channels available then your options are certainly reduced.

I would guess the boat designers didn't think anyone would be sitting in that seat with the stereo cranked up. How do you hear the VHF, engines, etc. if you have the stereo cranked up while under way?

Sometimes people actually sit in that seat when in the slip, or at anchor with the vhf, and engines off to enjoy the music and relax.
