When was the last time you sat around with a boat salesman and talked about whats "wrong" with the boat they are selling?

Pete:

I'm not talking about the salesman per se. I'm talking about corporate MM. I would think that if MM now knows of a major issue with a vessel that it owns and is selling, then MM would be "requierd" to disclose that information..... My question is...... why not fix it and sell it....unless they will fix it and then raise the price.... :smt017

This is not my deal, but I do know some of the specifics and I don't want to see the discussion get too far down the road criticizing Marine Max, when they actually did the right thing by the buyer, Aquadancer.

The buyer went to his local MM store and salesperson, but the boat was in inventory at another MM store in a nearby but different location, having been taken in on trade for a new Sea Ray. So the boat was owned by the other store, but the local salesman was handling the sale for the buyer. The survey found a structural problem and the selling store manager agreed with the findings and felt that correcting the problem would be quite expensive and their store recommended that the deal be killed on the basis of the survey.

In my view, Marine Max did the right thing by the buyer and even offered compensation for the due diligence expense so far. This is exactly why we do surveys.

The unknown, and what remains to be seen, is what will happen to the 460 that Aquadancer rejected. My guess, based on the fact that Marine MAx is a reputable company, is that the boat will be wholesaled out of the US..............but, who knows?
