"Carolina Gang" June 2009 Georgetown Rondevous

Hey Chuck, is MM sponsoring the Allatoona raft up, or just participating? Wondering if the Gang could get some sponsorship.

I guess participating. I heard they are showing up Saturday with food and stuff then do a movie on the water later.

Kes, any feel for if I'll need the dinghy on this trip? Maybe Saturday night?

I would say yeh. Might could do without but will prob wish you had it. Since we are doing the plantation tour sat morn, and after finding the "man cabin", theres a possibility that by the time we get to sandy island some boats may need to raft up away from the beach and wait for a spot to come in to. If thats the case, the dinghy will come in very handy. And, we can go into the canals and scout out passage ability to the cove.

We need to remove the covers in the morning, load the cooler, and drop off the dog then we will be on the way. We are trying our best to be in Charleston by noon. Looking forward to the adventure.

Just saw Paul southbound on I-26. Looks like he should be in Charleston by 10:30. Have a great time.

Whose got the pictures and story since I forgot the battery to my camera.

My wife and I enjoyed meeting everybody at this get together. Our tour guide lady sure did knock herself out. Thank You Kes for all of your wonderful suggestions of things to do on this trip and for the great B&B to stay at. My wife was very happy. I was too..... As for Jay you just never know when someone from your past will turn up. Tell him not to work too hard.

Nicky and Janet were great to meet also. Nicky was a southern gentleman the entire time helping his sweet wife keep her toes dry everytime she got off and on the boat. I was impressed. Now stop showing off in front of my wife. I am not as strong as you. They are also very talented and resourceful. After learning of all the things ya'll can do and fix I doubt there was a harder working couple on this trip.

Sadler and Bob as usual were the go to people when we could not find the Mansfield Plantation. I hope your anchoring out went well.

Greg and Tonya were fun to meet. Ya'll sure went a good ways with the 185. The chop on Winyah Bay slowed me down as ya'll kept slugging thru it. I was impressed.

We want to thank Kes for planning this event and everyone for the warm southern hospitality. It was fun meeting everyone. I will try to down load our pictures tonight. The tours were fantastic, and you can't beat the price.

We did take a beating in the bay. That was probably the worst wave action our boat has seen. I kept thinking, at least I'm in a Sea Ray with a good strong hull.

Thanks again evryone.

What a great time everyone. Kes, thanks so much for a terrific job of planning and leading. The marina, the dinner, the lighthouse, the plantation, swimming on the sand bar, and Sandy Beach--all were just super. Any one of those would have been great, but to get them all in one weekend was amazing. Kes and Jay, Nicky and Janet, Bob, Paul and Jane, and Tanya and Greg--it was really very nice spending all the time together. Let's definitely do it again as soon as we can. I'm uploading photos now. I'll post the link in a few minutes.

Bob and I spent the last night at Cape Romain on the hook. It was beautiful as always.

Kes and Jay weren't the only ones with a hiccup. This morning, HB's engine ran smoothly but refused to get up to full power. Consequently, it took us awhile to get home. Almost certainly dirty fuel clogging my fuel filter. I had a spare with me, but I wasn't inclined to start working in a hot engine room with a potential for a fuel spill. I'll check it out next time I'm in Charleston.
