Wife and I are finally getting around to taking our honeymoon and the Caribbean sounds like a good idea.

looking for a nice hotel / resort / villa on the beach.

any input would be greatly appreciated.

I just got back from the RIU in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. Loved it. Huge resort, tons of restaurants, 2 giant pools, scuba, snorkeling, etc.

My buddy got married there, and spent the first week of their honeymoon there. Their 2nd week was spent at Couples Negril, which he said was even better!

Jamaica Mon!

Sandals or Half Moon Bay (expensive but very quiet, this is absolutely top end) in Montego Bay

Sandals in Ocho Rios

I've been to some good places in Mexico, but I wouldn't go there right now.:smt009

Sugar Beach (Playa de Azucar) Costa Rica.... Hotel Sugar beach. Private beach, easy drive from Liberia International, loads of good food in the nearby towns (Huacas, Portrero, Flamingo beach, Coco beach, Tamarindo) Zip lines in the Canopy, cheap offshore fishing charters.... what else can I say!

I have a customer in St. Kitts, and travel frequently to the island. I stay at the Royal Beach Marriott. Wonderful place on a quiet island. You won't be disappointed.

St. Johns - Westin - Awesome time...

We did a Southern Caribbean cruise a couple years ago, on Royal Caribbean(Serenade of the Seas), it starts in San Juan, then goes to St. Thomas, and we took a day trip to St. John (snorkeling on the underwater trail and sunbathing in Trunk Bay), then St. Maarten, (horse riding in the ocean - and then we went to Orient Bay), then Antigua (did Eco Tour - snorkeling/hiking), then St. Lucia (toured the island, saw a ton of things, zip line, volcano, piton's, etc.), then Barbados(snorkeling with sea turtles and on a wreck), then a day of cruising back to San Juan. Saw Montserrat volcano flow at night on the way south, and on the way back, went on the other side(west) of the island, and saw what's left of Plymouth - covered in lava now. Once back in San Juan, we spent an extra day (should have been 2) sightseeing all over the old San Juan.

I'd never been on a cruise before, and thought I'd be bored. Absolutely not, in fact, just the opposite. We were so busy, we never even went into the casino on the ship. Did I mention how good the ship's Pina's are? We'd get back from touring each island, grab a couple snacks, go get a pina, and relax on deck until a late dinner. There were shows each night in the front of the ship on stage, where we'd relax with a drink while we watched the shows. After the show, sometimes we'd go out on the ship, and watch the stars, this is how we saw the lava flow at night. If you wanted, you can tailor it to how busy you'd like to be.

My girlfriend's sister and husband did this same cruise this spring and also enjoyed it.

The nice thing about cruises is you get to see a wide variety of things.

I say forget the resorts and get yourself a private home in Ocho Rios or any city in Jamacia/Mexico for that matter. You get a private home with a private pool, a cook, a housekeeper, and a landscaper/poolman all included. Nothing like having your own bit of privacy without waiting to eat or fighting for pool chairs. I spent 6 nights in a beautiful private home with all staff for about $3500K plus staff tips. You just tell the staff what you want to eat and they cook it and ring the bell when it is ready.

Grenadines are my first pick out of all the places we have been. They like us americans and its not too touristy. you can infuse with the natives and their culture more with less worry of crime/safety.

Just got back from Aruba. Great island, very friendly people. Took walks at night very safe. They like Americans. Same power grid (no adapters) Mid 80's every day with a cooling breeze.

Bareboat charter from St. Thomas through the British Virgin Islands. Best vacation ever. I've done it about 10 times always with a powerboat. It's the best way to see the islands.

Just did the BVI bareboat charter out of Tortola with 48' sail catamaran.

Awesome!!

So many different places to see and hang out in the BVI's.

No way to get bored and we stayed on the boat saving some $$.

Peter Island was very nice if you were looking for land accomodations.

We went with www.sailtmm.com
