has anyone else run into this? the cabin door will not lock from inside the cabin. and do not have the key to try from out side the cabin. (just ordered the key at the sea ray dealer)
i am afraid that the latch is no good and i just ordered a key for a latch that does not work.

I did have this problem. It was due to bad rollers (trucks) that the door travels on. I had to lift the door to lock it. It was easier to do from the outside rather than the inside because I could pull up on the handle. I ended up replacing my trucks. There is an album on my homepage here that shows what it entails. I ordered new tracks and trucks from Teak Isle http://www.teakisle.com/ and the fellow I spoke with was Jim Cox. Nice guy and very helpful.
Good Luck!

Most of the locks that Sea Ray uses (that I know about on the small to medium cruisers, anyways) can be set so they can't be locked from inside. That way a kid can't lock themselves in. You need the key to unset it.

well thank you for the reply.
i have the latch out of the boat and it still will not lock.
does not look easy to take apart, has 4 rivits.

Yes, but you still need the key to unset the child-safety thing (assuming this is your problem). Wait till you get the key before you start disassembling or buying a new one.

I misread. I thought you had the key you ordered and are trying to unlock it and lock it by hand from the inside.
Yes, wait until you have the key so you can attmept to lock it with the key in all positions.
Safety lock prevents the door from being locked from
the inside. To activate: turn the key to open lock, turn
key to vertical and pull key out

Mine locks from the inside only if it was unlocked from the outside using the key. If the door latch was put in the locked position using the key then the inside lock will not work.

Wow, That is cool! I never knew that! I'm glad my kids never locked themselves in the cabin.....yet! I'm heading down to the boat tomorrow as they want to launch me this week. I will give that a try!! Thanks for the info!

I have a different problem with my sliding door on a 240 sse. The door will unlock but it gets stuck as if there is a safety latch on the inside preventing the door from opening. I had a peek through the window and there is nothing in the way of the rails. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm pretty desperate! Thank you

I agree 100% with Dennis. Once you get the key, after unlocking the lock, you need to rotate it back clockwise past the "click" which you will feel more than hear. Then you will be able to lock the door from the inside.

I have this same problem on a 2001 270DA that I bought new. The door locks from the outside with the key, but it will not lock from the inside with the thumb latch. I have read the Sea Ray owners manual from front to back, and this was never mentioned. I even took the boat back to the dealer and they could not get it to lock from the inside. I will try your suggestion this weekend.
