borg warner velvet transmission bearings/gears checking if cause shaft vibration

This is a continution of my search for shaft vibration on searay 420ac , see that thread. How can the output bearings/gears on the borg warner velvet transmission be checked without pulling transmission. Not sure of the cause of vibration at this point but flanges are aligned and shaft is straight after putting on lathe. so next step is to pull transmission according to tech. Thanks for any help.

I think there would be significant noise from the transmission if the output shaft had moved enough to cause a shaft vibration.

Have you considered the strut alignment? If the boat bottomed at some point, it is heavy enough to deflect the strut. DId you see the shaft reinstalled and as it was pressed back in thru the cutlass bearing, did it line up with the center of the shaft tube or did someone pull it over to get it aligned? The shaft can be straight and the props true, but if the shaft is deflected when it is coupled, you will get a vibration.
