About 10 years ago, I was anchored once in a popular spot near me, called Tice’s Shoal, by the Ocean... You anchor in the bay and walk over to the Ocean across a barrier island park... We anchored and left our boat unattended, and walked to the beach. When we came back to our boat, a 25 fishing boat with 4 women, and no anchor had wrapped their out board engine around my anchor line... The boat banging against the bow of my Sea Ray, and their railing and anchor light were mangled from banging against my boat... The worst part was they had a knife out were attempting to cut my anchor line... I rushed to my boat and let the anchor line out and jumped in the water and untangled the line... I did not report what happened, and promised myself to get all chain rode with my next boat... I also stay away from that anchoring spot... I yelled at the "Ladies" for trying to cut my rode... They were hysterical, and had lost their anchor and were panicking... My boat had a few scratches which where not too noticeable and I fixed the rub rail myself... I contemplated reporting the situation, but felt that no good would come out of it. Now when I anchor, I try to raft up with friends and don't leave the boats unattended... I have all chain, and I am sure the "Ladies" learned their lesson...
