BIH Get Together (formerly:Navigating the Chesapeake)

I talked the admiral into extending our BIH stay. I just fired off an e-mail to the Marina to extend my slip reservation from one night (Sunday 22 July) to two (22-23 July). We will do the return trip in one day on the 24th.
We are really looking forward to it, but when my wife starts rolling her eyes I am going to have to climb out of your engine room Dom (and Gary) and quit talking about the genius of Herr Rudolf Diesel.
Women. Sheesh.

regards

Skip,

We are going to be heading south on the bay on the 24th as well and will probably go to the Rapahanock River/York River or so... Not that you need a travel partner or anything but I'll take pictures of your boat getting beat up in the bad storms that will be on the bay that day.

OK, how much time do each of you expect to spend detailing your boats so you can claim the "cleanest" Searay title at the BIH get- together? :smt043

My wife is going out of town next weekend so I have about 3 days of (me time) to get ImpulseIII ready!! Lets see if I am disciplined enough to actually clean the boat OR if the weather is nice, if I try to explore on my own!!!!! :smt038

Getting close now.....Can't wait to meet many of you personally and see those of you that I have met again! Have a great weekend!!!!

Now its off to the boat.............. :smt038

Gary,
Because I am a tree hugger at heart, and in the Al Gore-esque spirit of saving the earth, i will affix 250' of 3/4" rode from your stern to my bow as we depart BIH on the 24th. You can wind those QSM 11s up to about 2250 RPMs, I will secure my props, and Truly Blessed II will coast merrily behind your 480 battle wagon as we head south majestically, saving diesel and small woodland and aquatic creatures in the process. Man will that combo ever throw a wake!

Frank,
I am just going to wash the boat before we leave. Reading Dom's posts I realize that the shiny boat contest is all his, so I am going to focus my efforts on relaxation. With the two rug rats aboard keeping the boat semi-clean is the very best I can hope for.

But maybe the shiniest 420DA award is up for grabs........

we are looking forward to the trip!

Hey...didn't Skip start the whole shinny boat thing.... :smt017 .....

I'm showing up after a 2 night three day ocean trip.....my 410's gonna look like I rode 'er hard and put 'er away wet when I pull in..... ....but I'll be sure to enter my dinghy....she'll be covered for the whole trip....

I'm looking foward to meeting you guys and sharing a cocktail and cigar at the end of the dock..... .....while we watch the sun go down.....

Dom, you can enter and smoke the shiniest 410DA category. I am feeling pretty good about the shiniest 420DA--but like you I will have come 150 or so miles in salty stuff so the high gloss on the gel will be covered up by crusty white stuff.
So it goes. These girls were born to run in salt.

OK guys...we're getting close. I am acutally packing some things on the boat today as we are leaving Friday morning and I have a busy schedule in work this week....(why does it always work out that way... :smt013 )

We should be pulling in to BIH mid afternnon on Sunday. As we talked about earlier, everyone will be putting out a "dish" Sunday...say between 5 pm and 6 pm. Frank H will be bringing the name tags...

Anyone in the area who can't make it by boat, please drive by for the dock get together Sunday....just bring a small dish.... ....

We'll figure out something for tables for the "dishes" ....

We'll take a group picture and maybe Gary will include us in his new book ...

See you all next weekend......

I've been looking for a way to get rid of these 48 cans of chicken noodle soup...

And.. my boat will look like it's been lived on for 4 weeks.

Hope its Cream of Chicken. :smt043

Anyway, for all of you that are attending, please either email me or post your boat name and the names of all that will be attending. I will make up name tags so we know who we are. See you all next week.....

Dominick,

I've got a portable table, I will bring it along..............Anybody coming in Saturday afternoon. For the kids, they are having some kind of beach soccer tournament at Rash Field all weekend whitch is right in front of the marina where we are staying.

Let me know if you guys need anything, I'm local.

John

I suppose I could do something novel and call them tomorrow BUT does anyone have any idea what the earliest time we can check in is? I would like to get there early so the name tags are available as boats pull in. It would be great if they could have all of us in some sort of close proximity! That way we wouldn't annoy the neighbors!! :smt015

That's great John....I hope the legs are strong...those soups cans get heavy...

Frank,

Channel 13 news in Baltimore shows live shots of the marina every morning, there seems to be tons of vacant slips, maybe early check in would be possible.

John

Frank
TheDog Gone Squid will be there Saturday afternoon. Walt and Donna will be onboard.
