Bigger boat or Lamborghini???

Having driven high end exotic European cars on numerous occasions, the thrill is great, but after a while, the thrill is gone because US roads are poor at best and you truely take a beating driving these cars on US roads. This is in addition to the limitations that US roads put on the capacity of these cars. As has been suggested, an AMG or M3/5 is a great compromise of performance and comfort for daily/regular use. If you realy have a desire for the Lambo/Ferrari, see if you can get a short term lease - pay for the time you will be using it. Just a thought ... and this will leave resources for your other pleaseures in life.

Just a thought.

I was alongside a Lamborghini on the Bay Bridge yesterday and beat him to the other side. Cool car for sure but the performance can never be realized on the roads here. The laws have a bit to do with it also but that's why he had 11-99 foundation license plate frames. Kind of gets the highway patrol to look the other way.

You can not take it with you. Hard to sleep in a car but a a bigger boat might be nice. Met some one on a plane a few weeks a go. Life story was he made his fortune but non of his children would vist them so he bought a 150 foot boat and said he did it so when his children came to see them they had to stay for more than one night. Seemed like a happy person.
Get what makes you happy.
We keep thinking of a bigger boat but what we have still floats and is the correct size for our needs. New cars are OK but not into a car you need to open the door to see to back up.

Success looks a lot like work. Hard work fosters good consequences. I don't have a good opinion Arl for this decision but I know I'm going to look you up next time I instruct a class at Volvo in Saskatoon.
I find if one associates with successful folks it seems to rub off on you.

Play hard and work hard my friend. BTW what chassis are you using for your drill rig?

UPDATE:

Someone with the same dilemma, solved it brilliantly

IMO .... think American Muscle
Quick brutal torque is much more fun and useable than long distance fast
This old girl I built is a true 9 second street car and will run **in excess** of 160mph

Lets see some pics of the car in "true 9 sec street car" trim. No way is that boat running a 9 sec 1/4 with those skinny rear tires! Or did you mean a 9 sec 1/8th mile? If so....that's not that fast.

Well I just went through a similar scenario myself. I have had classic cars for years. A few months back I was headed to the Searay dealer in Orlando while on vacation, to see what kind of parts they laying around and what is new. I accidentally pulled into the Ferrari dealership parking lot. I had my brother-in-law call my wife and tell her I was buying a new ferrari. She didn't take it well. She told him that I better sell off some of 6 classics in my garage before I bought another car that is just going to sit around collecting dust.

Well that got me thinking. I haven't driven my 59 Corvette in over 18 months and my 70 mustang fastback hadn't moved in over a year and my BMW 650I convertible was more of a pain in the ass then anything else. I always wanted a Ferrari or Lambo when I was a kid, maybe it was time for me to throw out the investment part and have some fun.

After selling off the 3 cars pretty darn quickly, I went on the hunt. I had made my mind up on a 07 or 08 Lamborghini Gallardo. Then I went to an exotic show and saw the Ferrari 430 F1 Spyder parked right beside a 08 Gallardo. I fell in love with the Ferrari. Next I drove a Gallardo and a Ferrari 360 coupe. The quality and drivability of the Ferrari not to mention the beautiful curves of the Ferrari.

I ended up buying an 06 Ferrari 430 F1 Spyder that wasn't even put into service till almost the end of 07. 10,000 miles, full service history and in immaculate condition. The best way to describe the car is "as advertised" this is the only thing I have ever bought that is exactly the way it is advertised. I still have my 05 Commemorative edition Viper and my 1957 Chevy pick up Street rod. But Man, do I love my Ferrari....I think every guy should have one.

Steve,

Now I'm just jealous, I could afford the little one in the last Pic.

Honestly though, well done

Steve, if I ever have the chance will you take me for a ride? I have always loved Ferraris and am in love with them like you.

A few years before I bought my 1999 400 Sedan bridge it was my dream to buy myself a Lamborghini, but when it came time my Pops convinced me a boat would be a better idea and with the down turn in the economy boat prices seemed to be reasonable. So I got off my wallet and bought the boat and have been having the time of my life.

Fast forward almost 3 years and business has been good and I can afford a Lamborghini again. But I am having a hard time deciding if I should put that money towards a bigger boat.

What do you guys think?

This one has made the short list.

I don't have a Lamborghini, but I do own two Porsches. Just like a boat...anyone can buy one, but can you afford to maintain it? My 2009 Carrera 4S just cost me $2400 in tires and is due a $4000 service. I know that's cheap compared to a Lamborghini!

Steve, after seeing that car, I am staying the Hell out of Orlando lol....I think...well maybe...hehe.....seriously that's one beautiful ride...df

Congrats Steve! Very nice ride! I just love that you bought your grandson one too, he's lucky that he has such a good grandad:)

Steve, if you get a chance I'd like to see the '57 Chevy P.U. I had a '57 big back window (ex-wife got it) and a '56 (sold for the boat habit).

For me cars come and go, there will always be a newer model next year. But the boat, will last a generation. I drive a 2012 GTR on weekends when im ashore.

I agree, seeing that happy little guy with his own ferrari is really cool. Great job Steve.

That is a beautiful car Steve. Nice seeing you and the new ride at the car show. And how about that original Ford GT40? That was off the hook!

Get the car and give your mom a ride
