A few years before I bought my 1999 400 Sedan bridge it was my dream to buy myself a Lamborghini, but when it came time my Pops convinced me a boat would be a better idea and with the down turn in the economy boat prices seemed to be reasonable. So I got off my wallet and bought the boat and have been having the time of my life.

Fast forward almost 3 years and business has been good and I can afford a Lamborghini again. But I am having a hard time deciding if I should put that money towards a bigger boat.

What do you guys think?

This one has made the short list.

Well, you do need something to chauffer the "seat covers" you need to transport...

...and the boat does seem to be holding its own in your social life.

Where would you keep it?
Canada or Mexico?
Maybe a good idea to rent one for a day and make sure you will get the enjoyment you expect?
I'm a classic and exotic car exporter, and a true car guy. Having had the chance to drive some of the coolest cars available, I wouldn't want to own one due to cost benefit.

The car will stay in Canada for a while then maybe make its way back to the USA to my place in Tampa bay, but that's only if I ever move the boat their from Mexico. I have drive one before and loved it. No feeling like it.

PM me your phone number maybe you have a better line on some cars that my importer doesn't. Have you exported any to Canada before?

Get a bigger boat and a Lotus Elise/Exige. Most fun for money, believe me!!!

Listen to Pietro. Italy.....Germany.....Yeah I can understand it. Had the wonderful experience of it. Having done it.....what I could never understand was owning an exotic that will eclipse 200MPH in a country whose national speed limit is roughly mid range to just coming out of second gear in those things. Lease it for a few years and get it out of your system. Best of both worlds if you play the money right.

Right, and if you want to venture on the track, the Lambo will go for just a few laps before overheating engine and brakes...

The Lambo has been my dream though...you can say that about a soccer moms mini van now to though...Can go way faster than you would ever want to go or try to go. I live in Saskatchewan Canada, although a hot economy, I bet their isn't even 10 in the whole province, so would be something different. Saying that, I bet their are only 3 Lotus. Bigger boat has many associated costs with it as well.

Its weird because since I started dreaming about one they have not changed in price for the 2004's, the only price change are high millage. The few 2008 convertibles I am looking at had MSRP's of over $260k and are now a little less than half that.

Wow, I am impressed! But not to be a buzz kill, but let me be the voice of reason for one moment. Those "things" as cool as they are, will only bring you temporary satisfaction and not true joy. It sounds like you are very successful, and deserve what you have for working hard. However, imagine what that kind of money could do if you used it more wisely and for others. I've been to rural northen Canada a lot snowmobiling, and I know it is tough outside of the oil/gas areas. Logging/mills closed everywhere. Imagine how using that money to help the local schools where you are from, or using it to feed those less fortunate. Again, not trying to rain on your parade, you deserve what you have, but to hear of a "young buck" such as yourself already have many of the luxeries that so many in our own countries (let alone other countries) can only dream of. True joy will come from serving and helping others. The new "stuff" joy, although very exciting at first, wears off pretty fast and then you are faced with the next thing to buy to fill that void. With that kind of coin, you could literraly provide safe drinking water by purchasing a well in Africa. With that kind of coin you could purchase tons of wool blankets to various disaster relief efforts, both here and abroad. You sound like a good guy and a fortunate one who realizes how "blessed" you are, maybe it would be worth considering some other uses with your discretionary income than blowing it on a fancy car??? Not trying to be a downer, but if I had your fortunes, I feel more practical about how/what I would spend at least some of that discretionary income. I'm not saying give up all the fancy stuff and live like mother Theresa, but think about how cool it would be to have a much needed addition to your local grade school named after you. Or the satisfaction that you can purchase fuel oil for heat for those that can't afford it back home. Nuff of the soap box, but it does seem like you could come off the wrong way with some with such a "dilemma", bigger boat or fancy car.....just saying.....Good luck with whatever you do. I do enjoy your posts! :)

Pretty good advice.
I haven't had a high end car, but I do have one of the top end custom motorcycles ever made in my garage. For me, after some time it became the same as a Jetski, slightly amusing. But the boat is/has always been my boat. YMMV.

In today's economy it's awesome that you are in a position to have to make such a decision. As a car guy first then a boat guy I say if the boat is meeting your current needs go for the Lambo. Obviously we will need pics, videos and possibly rides. haha. Looking forward to hearing your decision.

A lot has changed in the materials, construction and efficiency in pleasure boats since your 400DB was made. Don't make this decision without looking at newer slightly bigger boats just to see the difference........like the 610DA for example.

Buy two Lamborghinis in case one breaks down.

Keep the boat... forget the car... get more strippers!!!! LOL JK.. Your choice obviously. I'm for the boat. I would have a nice practical car of my choosing and then a car set up for track days, time trials and such. But that's just me.

How do you know he doesn't do this already? Just because he is successful doesn't mean he isn't contributing to any causes. And trust me, if his government is like ours, he's paying a FORTUNE IN TAXES! So he is contributing more than his share!

buy the car! in 3 more years....buy a bigger boat! 3 yrs after that, upgrade the car! See the cycle? Do it! :)

I do not know that, as I don't know him from Adam other than through CSR. He may already be a very charitable person. I realized I was off topic and probably should have not commented at all, and I apologize as this is totally his decision. I was just offering an alternative to the decision of having to choose between a bigger boat and fancy car. He deserves all he has and what he wants to do with it, I am not arguing that fact. A lot of good can come from that kind of coin helping others less fortunate IMO, and since that wasn't the topic of discussion I will again apologize and bow out.
