I think you are just going to have to figure out the best place that makes sense. You may be on the right track about putting it in the cockpit.

As far as I know, SR did not put shore power on the 215EC boats. I have seen factory shore power on similiar size boats located just below the side windshield on either port or Starboard side.

Just make sure you put a galvanic isolator and/or any other necessary components.

Wake20,
Where are you mounting the control panel? How many outlets are you adding?
Chuck

Do to lack of flat surfaces,.I think the cock pit is the place to mount it.Dont want to mount it below the rub line.Im using a marine paneltronic breaker box.30 amp main and 3 15 amp out lets,1 gfci for the on board battery charger,1 in the cuddy cabin gfci and 1 in the cock pit gfci. This is all I really need. All marine grade wire.

Why can't you mount the inlet plug on the back transom? That is where I had them mount it on the 240SD and it was not flat. I'm not sure about the 96 model but on the later model I was looking at I thought I could mount the inlet just to the right of the walk through door on the back transom. I would then mount the control panel under the sink in the cabin. You can see how it was mounted on the 240SD in my picture album under my profile.

Cool, I assume you are talking about the inlet plug. Do you have any pictures? Where did you mount the control panel?

You would not have the plug in the engine compartment, it would be outside the boat?

Do you moor in a slip, providing access to the bow? if so, you may be able to put it in the anchor well (it could then have the cable neatly coming out the rope-hole of the cover). Would certainly clean things up a bit. It could be far enough along the port or starbord sides to avoid interfering with the anchor itself.

Chuck,No pics but I mounted the in let plug behind the starboard seat inside the cock pit.The controll panel is mounted in the cuddy on the starboard side next to the removable panel that gives you access to the back side of the instrument panel. It looks good.

its been a while since i reviewed the posts on the forum (since my boat is sleeping for the winter) so i'm a little late to this party...attached is a pic that shows the shore power box on my 1998 215EC...it is located on the port side near the graphics....it feeds one outlet in the cabin which is located in the cabinet under the sink right above the port side seat botom cushion...the outlet is GFI protected...i also have my on-board dual bank battery charger tied into the wiring so that i can use the shore power outlet to charge both batteries by using an 120V AC adapter cord....

here is where I installed it on my 215 express
