I just replaced the festoon bulbs in my cockpit, spoiler, and outside rear running lights with LEDs. I did it primarily to reduce the power consumption, and increase the light output. When out at night, I want to be seen, but not draw unwanted attention to myself and my boating. I next plan to replace the red and green navigation bulbs, and the anchor/running light.
I understand the attraction to the colored lights.....I sort of like te blue cockpit lights, and may get them later.
